The location is unique, for one thing; Boone has the highest population of any city at it's elevation east of the Mississippi River, and the climate is diverse and more like that of New England than the South. The campus itself is absolutely picturesque, surrounded by mountains and forest, and filled with beautiful architcture and landscaping. The faculty and staff are very friendly, as well as the general student population.

The price of the semester is super cheap, but is still considered one of the best school's in North Carolina. Definitely the best value in the state.

ASU offers not only a community of individuals who are enthusiastic to be contributors to the community itself. Teachers and students alike are vital components to the learning process at this school. Coupled with helping create educational enthusiasm, ASU is situated in a geographical area that provides an infinite possibility of outdoor activities. The campus and surrounding areas are beautiful. Not only does the school have it's own unique history, the location it is in also bears a rich heritage. There's plenty of room to breath at ASU, both literally and figuratively..

Everyone here is really chilled and laid back. I never have problem asking for help from teachers or students. Everyone is together. Tons of outdoors types of things to do.

Appalachian is location in the mountains of the Blue Ridge Mountain range in North Carolina. This location allows students to participate in many outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming in local lakes, snowboarding, camping, etc. Many of our fine art colleges are excellent and produce many workers in those types of fields in North Carolina and in surrounding states. Our football is another reason why many high schoolers are applying the past two years, Appalachain beat Michigan in 2007 and the team has won three consecuative national championships. Fans also love the Marching band at the football games.

Appalachian State is a community where people aren't afraid to stop and talk with you or help you with anything you need. Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful and laid back, and it is genuinely a great place to be. Whether you like to nature walk, rock climb, or ski, the diverse surroundings allow for outdoorsy and non-outdoorsy people to always have something to do. The programs on campus are great too. If you want to go caving, kayaking, or even just to watch a French Opera, everythingi s affordable. It's a good time at Appalachian.
