If you are the type who is "not chill" for a lack of better words... than this is not the school for you. Acedemically, anyone will be challenged, but socially, people are generally 'kick back' and willing to lend a helping hand if need be. If you are a bit uptight, you may feel out of place, but you will be welcomed none the less.

Anna

Mao-Hsin

Rachel

Deirdre

A student looking to study within a highly specialized field. Bates offers a Liberal Arts education which means that it has a much more holistic view of learning. It encourages students to pull from various areas of study to formulate solutions. So, if you want to be an accountant, or foucs strictly on business, you'd most likely feel out of place.

Andrew
