Housing is pretty decent. Its guaranteed all four years, which is nice since Providence is a city. However, the housing lottery is great if you have a good number, but really sucks if you have a bad one. About a quarter of rising sophomores end up on the wait list, although you can get really good stuff off the wait list. Its just really annoying having to wait until the summer again to find out where you are living.

The no requirements opportunity at Brown is really popular but it does come with responsibility. You're expected to have an active role in your education and know how to schedule your own time well. If you are a person who needs a lot of structure and guidance than Brown might not be the place for you, especially since the advising program at Brown leaves something to be desired. As a freshman you're usually covered by upper classmen are left to figure out a lot of things by themselves. The more research you do, whether about housing options, classes or groups the better position you'll be in.
