Affordability! It has been such a joy to be able to pay cash for school, generally only $2000 a year in contrast to $30,000 or more! My family is upper class, which prevents me from being eligible for financial aid. The diverstiy of the school is unlike any other palce that i have been. You walk on campus and see all different ethnicities, styles, backgrounds, and current lifestyles of students. When you go onto the campus it is very rare that you see two people wearing the same clothes or dress the same, everyone is an individual, not a carbon copy like some other schools.

The educational staff at Cabrillo is known in the area to have some of the best professors. Many professors engage their class in current events and trends that may be seen as "alternative," or are not even relevant in other areas of the country. I feel that a lot of emphasis is on environmental preservation and free and open minded thinking. Many professors challenge students to research and think for themselves before deciding and forming their own opinions on controversial issues. To me, this is one of the most important assets an individual can possess.

In my opinion, I believe the best thing about my school is the fact that every student has a chance to succeed if they put their mind to it. In my experience at Cabrillo, I have had life changing moments happen to me right on the school campus. For example, when a group came to talk about the importance of accepting multicultural identity, I was so moved by their message that tears welled up in my eyes, for I learned something about myself. If I never attended Cabrillo, I would have never been able to accept my cultural identity.
