Alex
Fairly accurate. It gets really cold in the winter, but the fall and spring are pretty nice. There are some really weird kids, but the general population of students is cool. The girls could be better to be honest, but there are some cute girls.
Rafael
Most of the stereotypes are not as accurate as people might think. For example I think Carleton students party just as much as any other students in other schools. Also, while there is a large number of students that think of themselves as being very liberal, Carleton is not entirely very liberal. However, Carleton is academically rigorous. Carleton does make you work long hours, but it can also vary.
Alex
For the most part, yes. While there are some attractive people here, most people are average at best. And yes, most people are rich, but no one is in your face about it. Some people are pretentious, but not every one.
Rachel
For the most part; people tend to be more awkward than quirky.
Kendall
Umm... I guess everyone is quirky in their own right. Not everyone is engaged and not everyone is open or accepting. I think we are closer to the average population than some people may think, but I do notice students being a lot more interested in learning than in high school. Though that may be just my classes and environment because I hear stories that tell me otherwise.
Ryan
As with all stereotypes, yes and no. There are lots of people like that, there are also tons who aren't at all
Tim
Some are some aren't. There is a lot of homogeneity around here; kids are smart, they are hard working, but they do carry pretty easily defined and definable social practices. Kids also can party pretty legitimately around here sometimes.
Rob
To some extent. I think everyone at Carleton has some of these aspects within them, but they don't necessarily dominate their persona.
Seth
a) True, the majority are unattractive. That's not to say there are zero hot girls, but seeing one is definitely a high point during the day. On the plus side though, there are no dumb-sluts or bimbos here--or the toolbags that come with them.
b) The majority are really weird (and not in the funny quirky way; just really really strange). But these students live in the substance-free floors. Never sign up for a sub-free floor...biggest mistake you will ever make! The rest of the people are really smart and laid-back.
Alex
Girls are not that attractive, some people are pretty socially awkward, but fun loving and happy. People work hard during the week and have fun on weekends. The campus is fairly green/hippy, but not radical. Kida are definitely quirky.
Cat
Not everyone plays frisbee, but most people do or have at some point. I would disagree with the ugly stereotype, but not with the quirky one. I would say that most people at Carleton our nerdy, but each in their own way. For example, for one person stromatolites will make them jump up and down while for another person it will be romantic poetry or gender relations in the US.
Leslie
I would say that it is true for maybe half of the student body, but people come into their own here and really start to become unique, interesting people. Even if someone is too awkward to carry on a normal conversation freshman year, by senior year they probably will be fine.
Carson
There's been a big resurgence of J Crew-style kids, for better or worse. The quirky thing still holds true to an extent, but Carleton's a lot more preppy than it presents itself. It probably has something to do with the fact that it's become more need-aware recently.
Sam
Yes, although the 'quirky' gets played up a bit much
