What kind of person should attend Colby College?

Amy

There is no typical Colby student, as we all have our quirks and geek streaks of sorts. If I were to provide a checklist, though, it'd be the following: outdoorsy, loves winter, does not mind dressing in layers (it's Maine, what can I say?), hits the books hard--but leaves time for partying, actviely volunteers, probably involved in three more clubs than said student can actually handle, outgoing, well-acquainted with libraries, and is an overall rounded student with good time management skills.

This school is great for a person that is a very active thinker. Someone who likes to challenge popular opinion and come up with their own personal philosophy. There is a great deal of learning that takes place in the classroom but the ideal inividual at Colby should be able to take the lessons from the classroom and translate them into real world practicality.

Emily

Liberal, artistic. academic and thoughtful. Likes to drink and not go out to bars so much

Someone attending Colby should be outgoing and assertive. They should be very self aware and should definitely know what the are talking about. A person attending Colby should be an excellent multi-tasker in order to juggle all of the commitments that come with academics, sports, and work. Also, being athletic is important-most of the student population consists of varsity athletes. If your favorite clothing company is J.Crew and you like to drink like a fish, you're good to go!

someone looking for a friendly and close-knit environment should attend this school. It's small, so most people will know a lot about you already. Be sure you are ready for that! You should be outgoing, friendly, and willing to meet new people! Also someone who likes to party would be best for this college. If underage drinking disgusts you, look somewhere else.
