Covenant College Top Questions

What kind of person should not attend Covenant College?

Abbi

A lot of people love Covenant, but it is not for everyone. The people that I believe should not attend Covenant are people who do not want a liberal arts education that centers around Christian core classes. Every student has to take classes about being a Christian including Christian Mind where students learn about having a Christian worldview. Therefore people who are not Christians would not enjoy studying at Covenant. Also people who do not want a liberal arts education, where you take classes in almost every discipline.

Covenant College is made up of various "types" of students, so I think that any type of student would find their niche at Covenant. Covenant is a strong Christian school, and a student not who is not a Christian may not feel comfortable at Covenant. Many students at Covenant are multi-talented which leaves a lot of room for acceptance within many groups.

Isaiah

A person not interested in studying hard. Covenant is not an extremely hard school, but it does take work. If you simply goof off you won't get good grades. Covenant also has a strict policy about alcohol so students who really need alcohol to have a good time will not enjoy their time at Covenant very much. This is a very consciously Christian school, but we are not hostile towards unbelievers.

Emma

Someone who cannot put up with PCA teachings and can't abide by Christian principles. Someone who does not take their education seriously, but is only in college for the social "experience." Someone who needs a social place to go off-campus regularly to hang out. Someone who doesn't care for community. Someone who isn't okay with having their ideas and ways of living challenged in new and positive ways in order to make them think more deeply about what they believe and why they believe it.

Michah

The individual who hates community and fellowship with other people. Also, the person who chooses to hate God -- but even then our school seeks to reach out to those individuals. The school does not want a student that is forced to attend, either, by their parents or others because they come in with a bad attitude.

Christiana

Students that are involved in activities such as drinking, partying or sexual activities. Students who do not care about their studies or have an active and personal relationship with God should not attend Covenant College.

If you don't like mountains or if you are allergic to peanut butter you should not come. We basically love the outdoors and really enjoy peanut butter. Also if you get car sick from going up and down the mountain you schouldn't come because nobody would wnat ou in their car. If you don't speak english you shouldn't come because we don't provide ESOL classes. If you are a fine arts major and your concentration is in dance, you shouldn't come here because we definitely don't provide it.

I can not think of any one who "shouldn't" attend Covenant, but I can think of people who wouldn't want to attend. Covenant is a strong liberal arts Christian college, so I can only imagine those who aren't Christian not wanting to be around a Chistian school. I would also say that anyone living a "party" life style, such as drinking, smoking and having sex, would much rather attend a college were that is acceptable. At Covenant there are required chapels during each week, prayer before every class time, and rules and regulations for drinking and smoking.

Erica

A person who likes to party and have alcohol should not attend. There is absolutely no smoking, drinking, or sex on campus.

Because Covenant is on top of Lookout Mountain, anyone who likes to access stores or restaurants by walking should not come to this school. It has beautiful vistas, however it takes about 15 minutes to get to Chattanooga, the nearest city. Also, one should not come if they dont have a desire to pursue a Christian-based education. Covenant is also a fairly small school, which is appealing to some, and not to others. Another thing that seems trivial but about 70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the days at Covenant are rainy and foggy.
