If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school student, I would tell myself to study harder for my past classes and do whatever I could not to fail or drop out. I would tell myself not to be afraid to get help and to know when I was getting in over my head. I would tell myself never to doubt my own abilities and knowledge. I would tell myself to check on more scholarship opportunities and not to become reliant on loans. I would tell myself to do a lot more volunteer work and spend those extra hours in freshmen year making friends and having fun. I would tell myself to get more involved in other extracurricular activities and take advantage of as much volunteer opportunities as possible.

Keep your study habits as they are, work hard and remember that going to college is an opportunity that many wish that they can have but few actually recieve. Make your family proud how the rest of the young people in the community that a black person can do something more with their life. Also, remember education is vital to anyone who wishes to do more with their life, be more than just another statistic be the one who changes the system. Always reach for your dreams the only thing that stops you is the person you see in the mirror.

Go where you feel is right for you and you only. Forget about where other people would like you to go, and or tell you to go. Because at the end of the day you are the one who has to experience it and live with your decisions. Don't go to a party school, because you will wish you hadn't, especially when you have flunked out and you are working fast food to pay off your college debt, and believe me if you do that you will hate that more than studying.... Good luck with your decisions, and I hope you reach your goals... God Bless...

If I were to give advice to parents and/or students about finding the right college I would tell them to research and find the school that is going to give them the most financial aid as possible and to make sure the school has exactly what they are looking for as far as degrees are concerned. I would also advise them to look into the clubs and organizations the school has to offer that will make the students college experience more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the student stay on campus to get the full college experience. By staying on campus the student will form life long bonds with people he/she probably wouldn?t otherwise make.

I would tell a student that is important to find a school where you feel at home. If you are not happy at a school your whole life and school work will be affected. When you find the right school make the most of your time there. Study hard, but do more than that. Find a job, join a club, and make lifelong friends. I promise that if you do all these things your college career will be beneficial. College is an important time in your life. A time for growth and coming into your own. Just make sure it is a person worth becoming and someone who you want to be
