I brag about how good of a school it is. It is hard to get into, and is very rigorous academically. Only 8 students have ever graduated with a 4.0 GPA, the last 35 years ago.

How much I learned and how much I got out of being a student here.

I brag about our amazingly small class sizes, our awesome relationships with our professors, our self-government policy of the campus, and the fact that we are in the middle of no where but still have a great time.

Even though the school is located in a small town, there is a lot of activities to get involve that there is not a lot of time to think about getting out of town, but it is a possibility. People are there to help you get through each year no matter what. Teachers are nice and friendly and very approachable, as well as students. Grinnell College is a very liberal and each student is responsible for what they do at their four years of college.

I probably brag the most about the amazing amount of high quality facilities, activities, events, and research opportunites available for such a small college. My classes are no more than 30 students ever, yet there are always new and differnt things going on so that it rarely feels too small. The community and support system woven together on campus is also more than I could have hoped for. I never feel alone or uncared for by either my peers or my professors.

They are wonderful and thoughtful. We have the most interesting and thought-provoking conversations. They are funny, clever, and smart.

I always talk about the personal relationship I have with my professors and the staff on campus, I feel completely comfortable talking to any of my professors, asking them for help or for a reccommendation. Grinnell also has a policy of self-governance which hinges on respect for your fellow student and the staff. It allows the school to operate without a laundry list of rules because the staff and faculty trust the students and the student body doesn't impinge on that trust. This in turn allows for a very liberal social atmosphere.

How alive the campus is and how much freedom the administration allows us to govern our own social and academic lives. Even though we're in the middle of nowhere the school more than makes up for it by frequently providing free entertainment on the weekends.
