It's a very liberal, free-thinking school with an emphasis on being well-rounded. If you are very conservative and religious at all, you may feel uncomfortable in class or social functions. If you want to go into a focused field such as business or engineering for a career right away, this school might not be a good fit. If you want a big-campus experience with a lot of social functions nearby, this school will be a challenge for you. If you don't like rain or the outdoors, definitely don't go here.

A student that shouldn't attend this school is one who does not want to take advantage of the opportunity that they are given in order to get a great education.

People that are politically conservative or set in their ways may want to reconsider Lewis & Clark. While the atmosphere is one open to the light-hearted exchanging of ideas, it is often difficult for people that come from an extremely conservative background to break through to the granola-eating, tea-drinking, environment-loving general population of Lewis & Clark.

Only someone who doesn't want to meet anyone new or different shouldn't attend Lewis & Clark College. I was constantly impressed by the individuals that I met there. Sometimes we shared common values or a common background and other times we shared nothing but our enrollment in Lewis & Clark. Different languages, ethnicities, ages, academic and personal interests characterize the student body. I had the chance to study abroad, play a varsity sport, and sing in an a cappella group. If new experiences and different people don't sound exciting then Lewis and Clark is not for you.
Hannah
Someone who wants to find their spouse/life partner during college (in most cases, if a student is looking for romance, he/she will only want a fling or a one night stand).

I think that a person who is strongly conservative and religious might feel out of place at Lewis and Clark, but they are still welcome and wanted. I think that someone who is unable to push themselves to do well academically would struggle here. Also, one must be pretty independent and accepting of others to strive in this environment.

Anyone who wants to go to big parties, have a dating scene, get dressed up, or see the sun. Anti-feminists, anti-gay, anti-anyone... don't even try it. The campus is very politically correct and you WILL get called out if you are in any way homophobic, racist, etc. in your humor or everyday speech. Not for barbies (as I mentioned, no parties, no tanning, no spas, salons, or whatever; also, male to female ratio is definitely in favor of the guys: BEWARE.)
Jonah
Someone who wants tons of rigorous competitiion, and someone who wants a larger campus with tons of professors and courses to choose from. Don't come here if you don't enjoy being around people who like the outdoors, world-peace, and extreme liberalism.
David
A person that wants small classes, and is open to new ideas.
