MSU is a great college all it needs is a little bit of sprucing up and good PR.

here are a few suggestions for incoming freshmen:
1) move in as soon as u can, it gives u more time to get out and explore MSU
2) go out to a party during welcome week...something interesting will happen
3) don't act too cool to do certain things
4) order ur books by calling ahead...the bookstore can get ur books and reserve them for u...it will save u a ton of time...trust me
5) go to the gym and workout...it makes u feel better
6) don't try to cram 15 people in your dorm for a "dorm Party", it will result in getting written up
7) get football and basketball tickets
8) watch how u spend ur money...it is gone before u know it.
9)go to the library and study...too many distractions in ur room.
10) making the walk of shame at 7am on a sunday morning sucks
11)go to class
12) u don't have to watch ur laundry in the dorm laundry rooms...no one will take ur shit
13) use the RHA movie offices...its free and they have a lot of good movies.
14) learn the bus system
15) if u have friends that are upperclassmen...don't hesitate to ask them for advice, I was in the same boat as u just two years ago...and i was pretty scared
16) don't go to the barber shop in the union...it sucks
17) if ur friend is too drunk to walk home from a party DO NOT carry him...it will just attract police.
18) meet people on ur floor...it will make ur dorm much more fun
19) the frats have good parties during welcome week and the first couple weeks of school, but after that it sucks, and u'll get made fun of
20) get to know a cab driver on a first name basis...it will make those nights at 3:00am go so much smoother

I love being a student at Michigan State University, and I have no regrets about making it my college of choice.

Some people have a hard time at state because it's so large. Bonding with the people on your floor and being open to meeting new people could potentially make or break or opinion of MSU. It's really important to work hard and get good grades. I've known people who have been on it, and academic probation is not a good thing to be on! But it's also important to have fun, and try not to stress out too much. Luckily, MSU offers many ways to take your mind off endless hours of studying!

Campus Cops are harsh! They will "murder" you with speeding tickets or an MIP so fast if they catch you. There are not very many warnings, mostly $ 150+ tickets for acting up, so it's important that you be careful and smart doing your illegal thang, or you just not do it at all.

Overall, if you want a great education this is a fantastic school; however, if you hate being around childish students, you will not like it here.

MSU is the place to be!!

here's what pretty much everybody wants to hear about when they're applying to msu
the parties
well, every thursday, friday, and saturday, you'll probably be able to find one if you look for it.

MSU's great! At first, to be honost, I was kind of skeptical with my decision. East Lansing is a very small town, and I had never heard of it before. Coming from a city, I was nervous I wasn't going to adjust and be uncomftorable with the atmosphere. However, the people here at MSU really make you feel welcome and feel like a family. As corny as that may sound, it really takes away from the fact that East Lansing may be "small." You always find something to do, and the people you meet are crucial in making your college experience so great.
