I think the best thing about my school is that they do so much to get the students involved at school and in the community. The school and community are so intertwined that we students get so many opportunitiies to volunteer in Houghton and the community members get to join in the university's activities.

The best thing about Michigan Tech is its location. At the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Northern Michigan, the school is right on the Portage with a trail along the beach, and there are miles of trails through the woods on the upper campus. Being in Houghton, there's also a whole lot of snow, and it's a blast to ski, build snowmen, have snowball fights, and go sledding. Houghton is also small and safe, so Tech is safe. It's a great place to be.

The community of people is very friendly and inviting. There are a lot of different organizations that you can be a part of and even if it doesn't pertain to your major you are more than welcome to join for the experience of it all. There are many events held on campus that allow for a well-rounded individual if you so choose to participate.

At Michigan Tech we have a beautiful campus during all four seasons. The fall is my favorite but when the snow comes down the campus turns into a winter carnival. Every year we have Winter Carnival. Broomball courts get set up and snow men pop up everywhere. Student organizations build snow sculptures all over campus and there are many different competitions and fun things to do.

I like the fact that classes are relatively small, which means there is more "one-on-one" experience in the classroom.
Nicole
The best thing about Michigan Tech is the small community feel and the ease of getting help. We are provided with all the materials but it is our responsibility to utilize them; after all, we are adults.
Tori
The best thing about my school is the diversity. Coming from a mainly white-bread town it is really refreshing to be surrounded by different cultures and languages.
Molly
The location, It's in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We get crazy amounts of snow each year which is great for our annual winter carnival. Winter carnival is most peoples favorite part of the year, they build giant month long snow sculptures, have broomball tournaments, two days off of classes, and a campus wide all-nighter. The snow also provides for an awsome ski hill right across the Portage from campus and tons of snowmobile trails in the area. It's also located in an old mining town, so it's definately more of a small town feel.

The best thing about Michigan Tech is probably the engineering department. It is HUGE. Many people come to Michigan Tech for engineering related majors.
Desirae
The best thing about Michigan Tech is all of the recreation available for a very reasonable price. For $64 dollars a semester, students have unlimited access to athletic events, a ski hill, a golf course, tennis courts and all other athletic facilities. There is really no reason to be bored while at Tech.
Matthew
Location. I love the outdoors and MTU offers many outdoor activities.
Amber
The best thing about MTU is their reach for excellence in science and technology. They are on the cutting edge of science and technology, and they will be building the future.
Hannah
The educational programs at the school are good, but it's the outdoor environment that makes it. There's just so much to do in the northwoods.
Madeline
The best thing about my school is the friendly people in the administration building. They are always so nice and smiley when I go in with questions or to give them paperwork.
Kyle
High job hire rate after graduation.
Ben
The respect that the professors have for anyone who made it through the first two years. The become much more personanable and helpful, because they think you deserve the best they have to offer.
Ben
the best thing about Tech is it's size. the school is small enough that you feel like you still matter, but big enough that it still offers the classes you need. you still have the large lecture hall classes for freshman classes, however the class sizes decrease once the basics are out of the way.
Helen
Class sizes for the most part are relatively small and foster learning. There are plenty of places to get help at school and people are usually willing to try to explain things that don't make sense. Basically, people care if you're here or not, and will help you, while helping you learn.
Jan
If you don't like big cities, it is a great place to live and attend school. I also enjoy small the small classes.
