If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I'd start by saying this: you don't need to know what you want to do with your life while you're still in high school. My first priority should be to learn what the options are. I don't need to be in a rush to choose my life's work. What I need to do, is discover what I like. I have to work on stuff I like if I want to be good at what I do. Also, I'd make sure that I tell myself to give myself a little more credit. Aim higher. Take school absolutely seriously and trust your gut. I don't need anyone's help to go to college, just a desire to do it and to believe in myself. Do not be distracted by men and don't get married until the man you love asks. I would end with the simplicity of this: find out what makes you happy and pursue it. Don't let anyone deter or derail you from your joy in life.

The number one thing I would advise myself making the transition into a highschool student to being a college student is to mangae my time in a correct manner. Coming to college I've realized is all based upon my own actions. If I slack at any minute then I can fall behind. There is no one here to remind me to go to class, or to get my work done on time. So if I was to do this all over again I would make myself aware of time management, and its importance while being in college.

If I could go back in time and give the younger me advice about school I would tell myself to form better study habits and be aware of the people I choose to hang with in college. One of the most important things I have learned about college is that it can be made very easy or very difficult by the people you deal with. The company you keep is a very important aspect of your college life. If you have friends that are uninspired about school and who do not care about their grades they will influence you in a negative way. I have had those people in my life who have convinced me not to go to class and instead go shopping, or not to study for that test because there is a party. That kind of friend is not the friend you need when you are paying for a college education. Not only is it the company you keep but also study habits affect how well you do in your classes. If I could give myself advice I would tell myself to put more time and effort into my studies so that they can become a habit.

Get your thinking cap on, make a plan and get ready to work. The fun will always come.

I would tell myself to choose schools that pleased more of my senses such as scenary, teacher kindness, dorms, food, and social life. I feel that if I would have really looked into these things earlier, as well as a variety of degree programs given, I would be at a school that was cost affordable and that I enjoyed being at. I also would have looked into a college/university that rewarded their scholar students with scholarships for their continuous drive for scholastic excellence. I would tell myself to look at more schools and not to be closed minded. the biggest thing I would have told myself and done would have been to visit as many schools as possible so that I could get a feel for the campus and its people to see if that is where I could see myself at. I think that is the biggest piece of advice I could give myself. I feel that if I would have went on more visits, then I could have eliminated many of the problems I have now.

The main piece of advice I would give myself is work hard in the classroom becasue that is were it all starts and were it will all end. Knowledge is power and the mind is a terrible thing to waste, tackle every class head on ready to achieve the highest grade possible. Furthermore, I would tell myself that not everyone is built to be a college athlete and that I need to buckle down into my studies the minute I step on campus. Lastly, I would tell myself to get ready to have the most fun I would ever have as a young adult, college are the best years of young adults and you only get to have them once.

Do not stop getting your education. There is money to help all to pay for a good education. Stay determine, hungry, and motivated. Do not be affraid to seek help. A good education can open doors for a great life in the future.

I would tell my self that I need to start seriously looking for money to pay for school now! the transition to college wont be that hard for me being that I have a very adaptable personality, on the other hand constantly having to worry about if this is paid for or not does make the transition that much more difficult. I would also tell myself to calm down, college is really not that much different from high school so all the jitters I have can just do their selves a favor and fade away.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a senior, I would tell myself that my education is what I make of it. I would make sure I understood that an education isn't easy and would encourage myself to make the most of it. I would make sure that I took every class seriously and worked hard each day. I would not allow "social hour" to interfere with my reason for being in college. I would tell myself I could do anything that I wanted and not to settle for what was easy. I would tell myself to work less and study more. I would take that class just because I was interested in the material and not because it was required. Finally, I would tell myself that my education will change my whole life and to take it seriously but to have fun at the same time.

Moving away from home and being on your own at school is a HUGE change that happens in a really short amount time so you must be prepared mentally and emotionally. I know most people say "hit the ground running when you go away" but that isn't the best advice; especially not for you. Now I know you want to explore your new city and your new surroundings, but just take a week or two to get used to the campus and meeting new people that live in your dorm. The city isn't going anywhere. Just get adjusted to your new living arrangment first. Things will go alot smoother for you. Another thing that you have to make sure of is that you get your financial aid situation figured out as soon as you possibly can. Don't waste any time. Financial aid is sometimes really frustrating to deal with but just be presistant. Other than that, you know what you need to do. Keep your head in the books, network, become involved and surround yourself with good people. I know you, you'll do great!
