The most frustrating thing about my school, besides the brusk farm boys that stand around smoking and chewing tobacco, is the grade scale. At N.C. State an A+ is given a 4.3 GPA value, an A is a 4.0, and A- a 3.6, a B+ a 3.3, and so forth. On the surface it may appear to be an advantage, but it is quite a detriment. The diminished GPA value on the A-, B-, C-, etc. severely cripples the students overall GPA, for which the inflated "plus" values cannot compensate.
