What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Just a little bit more about other opportunities that may have been out there for me. I did rather well in high school and probably could have gotten into a really good school. Considering costs (and with the advantage of hindsight) I'm pretty sure I would have made the same decision, though.

I wish I had known that when you go to college you are on your own. Now one cares if you are sick, except for your family and close friends. You always have to watch your back from other people and look out for yourself. At the end of the day, you and your family are the only ones you have so do not give people the power to control you. People will stab you in the back to try to do better than you.

that advisors don't care AT ALL. that to get anything out of the ordinary done it will take an act of god (or at the least hours upon hours of your time and efforts)
