The advice I would give myself is be prepaired for a whole new perspective when it comes to studying and getting work done. The reason for that is I was not prepaired for what happened and at first it really hurt me until I got adjusted to how things worked and what was expected of me in all of my classes. Just getting through my first semester was one of the hardest things I have done. If I was able to go back in time by, I believe by letting my high school self know what was waiting in college I may have done a little better with a greater understanding of how things work in college.

I would telll my younger self that to do your best and accept any and all helping hands. I would tell a my younger self to get more involved with the student success because the success is always a helping hand away.

I took a year off of school for the 2012-2013 school year, so I can't exactly explain how the 'college life' and 'transition' is. However, given the chance, I would go back and smack some sense into myself. My senior year of high school wasn't the greatest. I didn't think I wanted to do anything with my life after high school and I was very unsure of myself, hence the year off. I have learned so much in one year about myself. I now know what I want to do in life. I have grown as a person. I have enrolled into the University of South Dakota to pursue a major in Psychology. So, basically, if I could go back and talk to myself as a high school senior I would let myself know that there is hope for me, I just have to believe in myself like I do now.

I walk through the double doors and get instantly attacked by the strong smell of paper and a generic brand of cleaning supplies. I suddenly stop in the middle of the hallway to think were I would be at 8:27am. Standing in the middle of the hallway wasn’t a good idea. Someone shoves my shoulder "Watch it." I apologize quickly and continue walking to where my locker would have been. Then I stop, there I am bending to pick up something the younger version of me dropped. I quickly walk up to her and lightly tap her shoulder. The younger Michelle looks up and freezes "Whoa..." I smile and say "Look I don’t have much time, but as you can tell im from the future. I came back here to advise you of something." She gave me a quizzical look "What is it? “I took a deep breath "Visit the school before you make a decision because things don’t always look as they appear. Also apply for more scholarships, to help mom and dad out. You’re not the only child going to college you know, and finish the year strong. You'll thank me later."

Assuming that I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, knowing what I know now about college life and making the transition, I would advise myself to relax and focus on each class at a time. I would tell myself to take each assignment and pretend that this assignment is the only thing that determines my grade. Meaning, if I receive an A on this paper, then I will receive an A for the year. I would tell myself to pretend like every assignment is the most important grade, and that I must do my absolute best in trying to get an A.

When I was in high school I didn't even know if I wanted to go to college. I had a G.P.A of 2.4 and put a very minimal effort into my school work and spent most of my time hanging out with friends. Back then I didn't realize how important a college education really is. When I got to college it hit me, "Wow, I can't mess around anymore, I have to start focusing on my future." So I buckled down and made the Dean's list first semester. So to answer the question "What advice would I give myself if I could visit myself as a high school senior?" I would tell myself that it's important to enjoy school but it's also important to do the best you can.

I would tell myself to listen to other people that have talked to me early about college. Applying earlier, signing up for as much scholarships as possible, etc. College is no joke, if I thought High School went by fast college is going to be twice as fast. Don't do the same mistakes I did in high school. Procrastination is going to be an issue but I can do it. Everything that is worth getting is going to be hard. I should know that my time is not going to be wasted in college like I thought it was in High School. College you are the adult and you make all of ur decisions, whether they are good or bad. Take any opportunity you can, in life they're aren't that many so chariest everything thing that is giving, and again work hard it'll pay off. Four to eight years seem less than a lifetime.

Just keep studying and if you need extra help don't be affraid to hit up the tutors, they would be more than happy to help you out, do whatever it is you gotta do to transfer to the school you want go to. Don't get to encouraged and give up becuase you stumble in a few classes. You can do anything you set your mind to. You just have to stay focused and be around more people who are willing to move in the same directions that you are headed. Also don't let people pressure you into drinking or doing anything that you don't want to do. yes your here to get a good education and to make lifelong friends, but make sure you find real friends who are going to support you and be there for you! Most importantly keep a good realationship with God and don't forget who you are.. Everyone wants to be successful, but success doesn't overnight. Yeah there might be acouple of rockey roads. But with God by your side anything is possible.
