San Diego State University Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about San Diego State University? Why?

Tanya

The worst thing about SDSU is the large number of students. You need become friends with the people in your dorms and get involved in some type of organization to help make the campus feel smaller. If you do not have this, the campus can seem so big and you can go an entire day wothout seeing any friends.

Terrence

nothing at this point

Hannah

The worst thing about my school is the partying. Many people mess around and give the school a bad name.

Brittney

Greek lifes influence on everything. Its slowly declining but it still is a huge part of our campus. I actually got a bid for a sority and turned it down due to how trashy some the the sororites tend to me.

Jennifer

My university is not well known for their sports teams. So there are rarely pep rallies / school spirit for sports events unlike other universities like USC, Purdue...

Roxanne

People think more about partying than having a conversation.

Devin

The worst thing is the poor level of academic competition and intellectual development.

Jaedeleen

The worst thing about my school are the furlogh days the professors must take, which ultimatley impedes the learning and education of the students.

Katie

It is an impacted school, so sometimes it is hard to get classes at the times that you prefer.

Chelsea

The worst thing about my school are the people who use college as an excuse to party. They are like diseases within the classroom. They do not come to class to learn, but rather to make fun of the people around them and yell out childish things as participation. They treat other students like garbage and demand to be respected themselves. I am passionate about my learning and despise it when others take education for granted.

Hoang

The worest thing about this campus is that some classes have to big of a lecture, so it makes it hard to have that one on one with the professor.

Katie

The availability of classes to choose from. It has always been difficult to get classes you want and/or need without crashing unless you are a graduating senior, or higher up on the registration priority. Especially now after the budget stuff. Sections have been cut, and classes are bigger. This makes it even harder than before to get into classes, and it causes several people to be delayed in their degrees if they can't crash.

Pauline

Perhaps thats its so easy to get into and a lot of times I feel like its selling itself short because we do have a great business program and foreign affairs program. It is also known as a party school, which I can't really deny because of our amount of frats and sororities that that is what several students do throughout the week. But I find that they can still suceed academically.

Jennifer

The worst thing about SDSU is the lack of a community feel. Most of the campus' population are commuters, so the aspect of living as part of a community is very small at SDSU. Most people living in the dorms do not know any others in other dorms, but I would love to see cohesion among the dorms as well as the campus population.

Daishanna

They do not offer much help for those students who ar not in activities and who are commuting to school. So my advice is toask as many questions as needed.

Samantha

The worst part about my school is the fact that i don't know if the major focus that i'm in is going to be available to me when it's time to apply for my major.

Kevin

The current budget crisis in the state of California has forced the university to cut back its classes and layoff professors, making it difficult to graduate in 4 years.

Avan

Workload of homework, because many professors believe that his or her class is the only one that you should be concentrating on. They don't take into consideration that learning the concepts is more important than just doing one homework assignment after the other. Sometimes 3 or more assignments are due in one week depending on the class. Not all classes are this way though.

Laura

crowded

Sara

The state budget cuts are horrible. It has affected so many of my friends and they have ruined my chances of being accepted into the Nursing Program at SDSU. We are paying more for our education, yet professors are being forced to take mandatory furlough days.
