What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Julie

The one thing that I wish I had known before I entered college is how hard class really are. I came from a very small school where I had to put in very minimal effort to succeed and now being at college I had to learn how to really study, how to research and how to spend more than ten minutes on an assignment. I wish I had know how to do all of those things so that the hardness of college would not have caught me so off guard.

Gretchen

I wish I had known the male/female ratio. There are far too many women on campus, providing more drama than necessary in many social situations.

Travis

I wish I had known that the practical courses for my major were of utmost importance, compared to the in-class courses. I would have preferred to know better how to utilize their financial aid department for things such as third-party loans, instead of going in blind like I did my freshmen year. If I were to have known these two things, my prioritization in early college would have looked different in a way that could have saved me time, money, and stress. However, most of these things were due to my lack of understanding.

Jeff

I wish I would have known that it was a dry campus and that there were so many rules to follow, including open hour rules which involve visiting the opposite sex during certain hours of certain days.

Catherine

I wish I had known about the school more. I came to this school at the very last minute of the spring of 2007. I made one visit and fell in love. I just wish Spring Arbor would advertise more in Indiana.

Lauryn

Financial aid is an issue.

Amanda

I wish I would have known a little more about how strict their rules are with having Open Hours (when people of the opposite sex can go inside each other's dorm rooms for three hours three days out of seven). I also wish that I would have known about all the ways that a student could get fined for.
