What I have gotten out of my college experience so far is what not to do during college. I live in an apartment by myself with my dog, which is fine, but I did not get involved on campus. I have gotten to know myself better and I am a stronger, more independent person thanks to this first year of college. It has been valuable to me to attend college because I have been able to see my strengths and my weaknesses. I've worked since I was a junior in high school, and have defied many people who didn't believe I could work while in school or live alone. It has also been valuable to let me see that I need to be more social and not be afraid to go out and make friends. Thank you for considering me for this scholarship!

I came to Texas A&M as a girl who had never been exposed to much diversity or differing opinions of the world. The university is not a place I would consider diverse as a whole, but within it there are niche groups who are quite diverse. Within these smaller groups I found myself challenging my ideals, looking at others in new lights, and overall changing my perspective on the world. I have become more tolerant, more open, and more understanding to those who are not like me, and I spread this view readily to those who will listen.
I entered Texas A&M with an idea for a career that would give me financial wealth, and I left working towards a career that will give me the knowledge and satisfaction that I have helped others to obtain the education necessary to break the cycle of poverty. I now plan to be a school psychologist in an inner city area, helping minority and underprivileged children to complete their education.
Again, the university is not in my mind a beacon for diversity. However I cannot separate it from my own personal growth. It has truly made me who I am today.

While I have only been a student at Texas A&M for one semester, I have learned more in that time than I ever though possible. When I first came here, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was a Civil Engineering major, despite the fact that I didn't know much about it and had never really been interested in engineering in the first place. Now, I am a Political Science major with my eyes set on doing something to help America's educational system. The people I have met and the classes I have taken during my short time here have already made a huge impact on my life. I have met some of my closest friends here already, and every one of them has affected my life. I have met a group of people who are passionate about what they love, and their passion inspired me to find something that I truly care about. I now have a newfound sense of motivation and no longer feel lost when I think about my future. Without my experiences here over the past few months, I would not be the person I am today.

The main thing that I have gotten out of my college experience is that you have to grow up and take responsibility for your own actions. The teachers will not baby you anymore. Honestly, it feels like a whole new world. This made me become responsible for everything, even in my personal life. The pressure of failing gets to me and I can’t be as relaxed in college as I was during high school. I still have to get use to not having to ask to go to the bathroom during a lecture. Being in College made me realize how much I was babied during high school. I enjoy college and it has changed me into a mature adult rather than the immature teenager I once was.

My experience at Texas A&M University prepared me for succes in my graduate school program. I am currently attending the University of Texas at Austin for my Master's degree and have felt adequatley prepared for the work load. My 4.0 in this program reflects the education I received through Texas A&M University. In addition, my experience taught me to cherish differing opinions, ask questions, and become culturally competent. Texas A&M is a very conservative school and UT is a very liberal school. My experience during my undergraduate studies taught me the importance of an education- it allows for an open mind. The dedication to service and learning at A&M also helped me gain experience in the field. I was able to intern at a crisis pregnancy center, a hospital, and a sexual assault resource center. I volunteered in the 9th ward in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and interned in the Bronx in New York City through sociology classes at Texas A&M University. I learned in the classroom and in the field. My education and experience at Texas A&M have been extremely impactful and valuable to my life and future career goals.

what i have received thoughout my college experince was, having more of a sence that i was my own person and that I am now an adult. If i wanted to do better in school and had questions none was going to hold my hand the whole time to make me be responsible. My future was is in my hands now and i have to work hard no matter how hard it gets, to meet my goals and be successfull in life. To attent my college was very valuable to me because I got everything I can ask for in a college I met new friends, the instructors are very great people and they challenge you enough to show how what your capable of. College opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities and that i am very greatful to have. Everything that I learned and will continue to learn I can use this to help me with every aspect of my life.

The sense of community is wonderful at Texas A&M. I know that I can always rely on a fellow aggie if I am down on my luck or need a helping hand. I also appreciated the wonderful professors on my campus. They were genuinely concerned about my quality of learning. I was never taught by a TA, not once, and my professors always had set office hours when they would personally meet with students. I adored this school.

My college experience has allowed opportunities that otherwise would not have been available had I not graduated. I have worked with some amazing people over the years because I had a college degree. I have found my true passion which is education and work hard at promoting life-long learning to others young and old.

i started my journey in 2006. i had a few bumps but i am still kicking and going to accomplish what i set out to do which is to graduate. I am 37 years old and a mother of five. My college experience has taught me about diversity, and how to have relationships with other cultures. I have enjoyed my educational trip these past few years. I had to learn how to focus and study all over again, It's really been amazing. I am almost at the finish line and i plan to continue my education afterwards.

I have gotten a lot out of my college experience. First thing is you can always learn. I am an older student. I have raised my children and now they are going off to college. I am too. As a science major and the discoveries are alway flowing. There is always something to learn. Reviewing the basics allows for new learning.
The Professors are not always correct in grading so don't be afraid to approach them respectfully and ask why the answer is marked wrong. Most of the professor want you to do good. But I have cross paths with one that did not want his students to learn more than he thought they should. Thus, a psychology class is valuable. This type of person wants to be ahead by putting you down. Know how to deal with this. If not in college in life you will need to know.
A statsics class will be valuable to understand the news better. Polls conducted by call in viewers will have a basis. Poll givers can maniplulate the question being presented. Findout the phrasing of the question asked to see if a basis was present.
