Texas State University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Texas State University accurate?

Torry

For the frat guys/ girls yes.

Katy

Absolutely not!! It's a persona that people make. It happens everywhere though.

Whitney

These stereotypes are untrue and unfair. Students at Texas State, as in all schools, enjoy6 going out and yes - we can usually find a fun place to hang out most nights of the week. Recently, the school has made serious attempts to correct our image and be more respected in the academic community. As a matter-of-fact, in the last four years, students proposed and passed an act that changed our school's name from Southwest Texas to Texas State University. It may be true that a lot of us (me included) had planned to go to UT, but many people I have talked to agree with me that TxState turned out to be such a welcoming, spirited, fun and professional community, that we forgot all about prior plans.

Carly

All universities have parties, Texas State doesn't have more or less than other schools. The academics standards have tripled in the last 5 years.

Cameron

Some of them are exemplified by certain greek organizations that know these stereotypes exist and try to emplify them i guess.

Andy

some say so, but I believe those claims to come from people unfamiliar with the school.

Alex

Yes, there are parties every day of the week.

Sarah

Yes and no. Yes, student here go out and have fun but what school doesn't have students who go out and have fun-probably none.

Alex

Great students- yes Party school- same as every other college

Cody

Absolutely not. Like all colleges, there are parties and if a student wants to find trouble that is most certainly available to them. However, I have found Texas State to be a school with endless opportunities for students and a faculty that is dedicated to your intellectual growth. It has also been my experience that recruiters from many of the finest companies in the world recruit talent at Texas State.
