I have gotten a lot of valuable experiences throught my stay at Texas State university. One thing that I would say that is great is that I have a sense of belonging. I feel that everyone at my school is really friendly and appreciates each other, nobody really hates anyone.

I've learned through my experience with college to challenge myself. I've always been very intelligent, so I've used my intelligence as an excuse not to work too hard. Instead of doing just enough, I'm taking more than 15 hours a semster, every semester, and I'm classified as a Junior after only 2 semesters. College has been valuable to me in many ways, but mostly because it's made me grow up quickly. No one is taking care of me daily, so it's incumbent upon me to handle my finances, my school work, and my domestic responsibilities. College haas also been valuable for me because it's helped me develop socially. You're forced to make your own friends here, and it can be pretty scary for introverts like myself. You have to learn to be confident and to trust yourself. Most of all, college has been valuable in giving me the tools and resources (a degree, eventually) to be successful in life. In getting my degree, I'll be a productive citizen able to take care of myself, but also I'll set a good example for African-American women everywhere.

What I have gotten out of my college experience so far is that if you work hard and really put your mind to something you can do it. To me it’s making good grades in a difficult class or getting a degree. I have always had to study and work hard for school in order to get the grades I want. I am dyslexic and with a little hard work and perseverance I have taken many college classes and made mostly A’s and B’s. I have made a couple C’s but I know I did the best I could in that class. What I have learned from my college experience is to not give up my dream is worth it.

I have learned from my college experience the basics of life( English, Math) and in my degree of culinary arts, how to cook and make a healthy meal. It has been valuable to attend right out of high school, this way I am more aware of the options that I have in this world and for my life. I am at a place right now where I do not know what to do with my life or career. I want to go to Rosedale Bible College to get a better foundation in my faith, and that way I can find where in life I should be. I very much feel called to be a missionary. I have recieved from my experience in college the knowledge that to be a missionary I need more knowledge to be safe and prepared for the world. It's valuable to attend, if I want to survive in a missions field where people are murdered for their faith. My degree in culinary at Sinclair Community College is valuable to me, because where ever I go, I can help the people there learn to farm, find food, and prepare it in a healthy way!

My college experience opened me up to new people and ways of thinking. I gained a lot of independence and confidence and that needed. I started community college when I was 18, but I did not feel like an adult until I transfered to Texas State at 21. Interacting with my fellow Bobcats, finding me way around campus, going to campus events, all helped me to discover who I was as an individual. I will always be grateful for that experience.

Mange my time, and i Should not play around with my classes. This helps me to focus more, and organize my class works, and personal life.

The college experience isn't just about learning through classroom lectures day after day, but moreso learning how to become a responsible member of society. There is no way I could say the only thing I learned from going to college is how to square a function or write a grammatically proper essay. College experience is life experience, and one learns this only by experiencing college life themself.
Living on campus and socializing with other fellow Bobcats taught me how to adapt to living comfortably with others I would consider quite contrastive. My roomate and I had complete opposite sleeping schedules. (I went to bed at 10pm and she at 6am) We had to come to terms on how we would both live comfortably without impeding on the other's needs. I also had to learn to work effectively with other peers for work assignments and study groups in order to obtain the "good academic standing" I need in order to progress toward my personal goals of entering the Music Production Field.
Through my experience at Texas State, I can genuinely admit that the college experience aims to make good citizens out of young, inexperienced adults such as myself.

I have learned a great deal and continue to learn both in and out of the classroom. I have been learing how the hard work, dedication and persistence will pay of. I have done some real growing up in the college setting and learned some valuable life lessons. This will make me a better person both in future classes and out in the professonal work place. I have l made some really nice more than likly life long friends while attenting college. I have seen many setbacks and roadblocks along the way and have learned that they will happen and just deal with them as they happen that is partly what college has taught me and also to look and learn the resources to navigate through the hard times and choices. In the end, nobody can take away my degree that I have earned or the knoweledge that comes with it. I have also realized going to college, and seeing other people that many people have it worse than I do. In seeing that I am thankful and blessed for what I do have and I try to help those people that are not as fortunate.

Nobody tells you how difficult the world is. When I got out of high school, I moved away from home, got my own apartment, and starting a new job, all while trying to juggle school full time. I quickly realized that basic nessesities to life cost much more than I ever dreamed. All of a sudden, I was working more than I was studying, living on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and wishing I had applied for more scholarships. I'm still in school full time, paying my own way, still working 60+ hours a week, and I couldn't be more proud of myself. My college experience has been nothing short of difficult, but once I finish, I'm going to be more prepared than my fellow classmates, because I know what the real world has in store. Its not enough to just go to class. You have to work hard, manage your time, and pay your bills. Once you master reality, you can begin to enjoy your dream. I dreamt of going to Europe for school in the summer. I'll be there at the end of August... ready for anything. Salut! Votre travail sera récompensée!

Having previously experienced family trama, I found that the only way to improve my situation was to acquire a quality education. There were many times when I considered dropping out of college and just working, but I persevered and continued my journey towards my degree. Everyday after graduation I thank God for giving me the wisdom to foresee a better future through higher education. I have been able to acquire several prestigous jobs that I would not have otherwise been able to obtain without my Bacherlor's of Science in Healthcare Administration degree. As a newlywed in the last 3 years of college, I found myself not able to fully experience the on-campus joys of attending athletic events, music concerts or social events. I was a mom early in my marriage and fulfilling the demands of motherhood took presidence over extra-curricular experiences in college. Eventhough I was a mom, I was still a student and made my college experience into a family event. My husband cared for our daughter while I was in class and when it was feeding time, my professors and classmates would allow me to nurse in class. I found that flexibility is vital overall.

I got an eight week old puppy during Spring Break. At first, I saw Pepsi as a light commitment, but even after an entire day of classes, I could not stop thinking about him. My profound love of this dog led me to deepen my respect for life in general. I realized that a dog cannot choose whom he ends up with; he is completely at the mercy of his owner. Therefore, I arranged my whole schedule around Pepsi and when I transferred to Texas State, I decided to move out of my parents' home on his behalf. Pepsi has become the heart of my college experience, and because of him I have learned to take full responsibility for myself.

In my college experience I have learned much responsibility. Although I may have thought of myself as a very responsible individual for my age, going to college at 17 brought on much more responsibilities than I thought. A day at college is not structured like a day used to be in high school. More freedom is given to each and every student; however with that freedom is responsibility, the responsibility to show up to class, to do the work that is expected, and maintain a good grade all while a whole new social atmosphere is discovered and explored. If one's attendance is never counted and work never turned in, it would be like throwing money into the empty pizza box that sits on the dorm room floor waiting for the trash to be collected. College takes money and with money comes financial responsibilty. I have learned that money is a resource that needs to be rationed as there is only so much that I can get. I am not in college to just learn about majors and minors, but I am there learning how to become a productive adult in the world that college is preparing me for.

From my college experience I have learned how to closer regulate my own progress in learning instead of relying on others to motivate me. By witnessing many different teaching and learning styles I have become more aware of how I learn myself and am more able to prepare myself when studying and applying what I learn to life. It is very important to attend because the classroom enviroment reinforces what might be taught in a book or through notes. Some important ideas are shared between students and teachers and the colaboration of these creates an experience that you can only get from listening to others view points. Learning from people around you is crucial so that you become well rounded in your education. By missing class you miss important information that could help in learning more thoroughly.

A few weeks ago, while listening to the radio, the talk show host repeatedly stressed the importance of being a continual learner. As I pondered this statement, I realized how very valuable it is.
In today's competitive day and age, ever-growing knowledge is a requirement for progressive living. I have found this to be true, and by going to school I am continuing along the road to knowledge, and through knowledge, progressive living.
My college experience so far has taught me a lot about myself: my goals for the future, my drive, my passions.
My ultimate life goal that I have set for myself is to make an impact wherever I go, in whatever I do. After earning a degree in Visual Communications, paired with a minor in Business, I plan on carrying out this life goal by opening my own design business.

I have accrued knowledge in subjects such as biology and calculus, and I now understand the process of cellular metabolism and understand the definition of a derivative. Knowledge in calculus and biology enable me to pass my classes and inch me closer to obtaining a piece of paper that proves I graduated from an accredited college. However, because the percentage of Americans with a college degree is increasing the worth and value of a degree is consequently decreasing. With this previous point in mind, the experiences and knowledge that I have gained outside of the classroom is more important to me than what I have gained inside the classroom. Participating in on-campus activities and constantly interacting with my peers and elders has helped me sharpen my social skills. In a country where a college degree doesn't mean much, I understand the ability to seperate myself from my peers socially is key to landing the job I want; which is why my experiences in the college life outside of the classroom has made my university valuable to attend.

I have gotten so much from Texas State University. I always considered myself to be somewhat of an introvert, but this college really provided me with new horizons. With the city of San Marcos, being so close to larger surrounding cities like Austin and San Antonio, there is never a dull moment inside or outside the college. I love being here, I have made nearly all my friends at this University. I have played many intramural sports, and it is always a delight to play sports here. Everyone is extremely freindly and there is never problem with anyone, I have never seen anyone in fights, or getting angry with another, and considering the University is so diverse, I had figured that there would be conflicting opinions. Luckily everyone is so accepting of one another and their beliefs, so everyone really gets along. Being here has made be a better person, and more accepting of others. I have no doubt in my mind that I have made life long friends here.

This is the first time on my own. With all the wonderful Students, Councellors & Activities, I have been able to fit right in. My college experience is rounding me out as a young adult. Of course, I was nervous when I first arrived & had a rockie first Semister. But, this is just a learning experience and I am feeling very confortable at Texas State now. This is valuable to me because, I am looking forward to finishing my 4 year Degree & starting my life with a bright future. This all has been possible due to the support and help from my Mom and my family (and hopefully Scholarships to help along the way).
Thank you for your concideration.

When I went off to college I thought I was the most well-rounded and open-minded person that I could be, but once I got here that idea went straight out the window. Classes like philosophy, psychology, english, even history have started to make me think differently about the world and everything in it. I analyze people more than I used to and I think out of the box more. It's been valuable to attend because even though people can get these experiences in the real world I can't isolate myself from other people's opnions in class because it might be something on a test, so it forces you to think about different ways or doing things or thinking besides your own.

What I hope to get out of my college experience, is a experience i will remember for the rest of my life. I think it'll be valuable to attend Texas State-San Marcos because it seems like a very good school that will teach me alot of new things and let me branch out and grow into the person iam going to be for the rest of my life.

As I continue my first year of college I am still growing academically as well as socially, I have joined a servie sorority which is based solely on service and sisterhood. This sorority has guided me with service events that have made me mature as well as taught me how to become better with time management within the sorority as well as through my studies. I have also grown academically not knowing what to expect as I took my very first exam I studied until I could honestly say I fell asleep with my flashcards on my face. I found that studying the night before-like in high school-is not the best idea. I passed the test, but I am a much better academic and I expected much more out of my grades than what I received. In conclusion, as I near each test I have stacks of flashcards mixed with my self made study guides scattered on my bed as well as the floor, and its been working very well so far. (My roommate thinks im messy, but Hey! Were in college! Messy is okay when you have three tests in one day!)
