The University of Texas at Austin Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about The University of Texas at Austin?

As an aspiring healthcare professional, my classes were often very competitive when it came to grades. Good luck getting notes from someone if you just decide you don't want to attend class; sometimes it seems like it's every man for himself. In a sense, it has to be since you'll be competing with some of your classmates for the same slots in graduate school. I don't see anything wrong with a little competition, it brings out the best in people. Some people just take it to the extreme and it can be disheartening.

When finals come around, you always know there is going to be a lot of work. In my major there tends to be a lot of writing, and catching up on writing is hard.

Michelle

Classes are not challenging enough.

Alex

Registration is nearly impossible. Unless you're very lucky, it's difficult to get the schedule you want, and you often will have weird breaks between classes that aren't good for much.

Jean

Parking, it is expensive to park on or near campus. You can spend up to $50.00 a week just in parking

Heather

The parking!

Erin

Parking is absolutely ridiculous and it seems like the school does not care because they are constantly raising the prices on the alread very limited parking.

Daniel

The size in area...it takes so long to get from one class to another that if you have mulitple classes in a row, it's difficult to stop and grab a bite to eat, if necessary, without being late to class.

Wendy

Over crowded and cold socially. Parking is bad too.

Paul

The professors are sometimes unapproachable and they generally give no bonuses. The majority of the classes I've taken, there was a curve for the grading scale, because the entire class did so poorly.

Nicolette

The fact that each professor treats each class as if it's your only one. They make it almost impossible to hold a job while going to school, but at the same time financial aid is helping out less and less.

Sarah

The process of registration is very frustrating for lowerclassmen. Lower division classes fill up with upperclassmen sometimes because they couldn't take a certain basic class when they were lowerclassmen. A vicious cycle occurs.

The teachers don't know how to teach! They SUCK at teaching. I have to teach myself. WE all do. But the books are also no good at teaching. Doing well is a GIANT struggle. I'm usually a straight A student and it's so hard to make it here.

The most frustrating thing about UT would probably be trying to figure out where you belong as a freshman. There are so many things thrown at you your first year, that you have a lot of maturing and growing up to do on your own.
