College overall is different from high school. The academics in Merced are challenging but manageable, especially with all the resources available.

In UCM, students are less competitive than other school. Maybe it is because the campus is not too big, we all know each other. Therefore, most of the time we are just like a family. Professors are happy to spend time with student. Some professors even set up more office hours for students. My favorite class is Chemistry, because the professor always try to keep us on track. That make me feel less stress on it. The least favorite class for me is writing. To be honest, I am English as a second language learner, I have to spend a lot more time on writing than others. Anyway, so far so good for me.

The largest class is typically around two hundred people large. That, in comparison to larger universities like UCLA, is unbelievably small. This gives students the opportunity to not only learn the material, but to talk to the professors. Tutoring and TA availability is such that randomly showing up is more than adequate for any academic help. Research and internship opportunities abound, including the local hospital, DA office, and Yosemite program. It should be noticed that graduates of UC Merced have at the time of this article, attended top medical, law and graduate schools. The school has also secured significant research grants. Your time at this school is what you make of it.
