University of California-San Diego Top Questions

Being a great med school and a great top ten undergraduate education.

UCSD is most known for it's research and goal-oriented students. People here are very focused on what they want out of life but they aren't afraid to have a some fun once in a while.

We are most likely known for our large research facilities and our reputation of allowing so many undergraduate students to participate in research on campus. We are a largely science-based university, and it has become a norm for students to fulfill a few quarters of research before graduating.

This school is known for being anti-social. Not a very interesting campus. Also for being very nerdy and Asian.

Academics and surfing

Research, rigorous courses, and the quarter system.

The University of California San Diego is best known for their science department. The reputation it holds for biology and chemistry is said to be very "cut-throat". If I'm not mistaken, UCSD is one of the top ten schools for undergraduates holding a major in the science field. UCSD is also known to be lacking on the social end.

Nice beaches around, nice campus, nice library and resources. Good education (if you work hard and seek it) for great value.

Everyone thinks that UCSD is where everyone surfs but that is not the case. Yes, some people surf and if you are a Muir student then welcome to surf town! Well not really but it's easier because we are the closest college to the shore. Science, Math, and Engineering! That is what UCSD is known for. I've only been there for a school year but that's what I've sensed. The primary focus is on the above, but since the building of the Conrad Prebys Music Hall, I think there will be more emphasis on the arts!
