Classes are fairly large, but very intelligent teachers. The honors program is incredible, it gives you an up close and personal experience with the professor and an exclusive background to the class.

In most of my classes, there have been 20 students or less. The professors and TA's know my name. My favorite class is Italian because I feel like I have a knack for languages. I do not have a least favorite class here. However, Pstats is somewhat boring because the professor does not try to make it interesting. Students like myself are very competitive but in a positive manner. The most unique class I have taken is Human Sexuality. My major is communications. I feel UCSB's academic requirements are just right.

Classes are awesome, you meet people in classes. Learning for its own sake and geared toward jobs. Best class is sociology 152 with the old people Global studies is the best major.

UCSB has a reputation for being a party school, which may be accurate, but the students are very involved in their classes and focused upon their education.

My classes are very large, but they work well. My major is still undeclared but I am taking many classes to see what I like. Students are competitive, so I'm encouraged to do well.

professors definately know my name but i do feel students have to work a bit harder at developing relationships with their profs since the school is so large. the Honors Program here really helps to get that one on one time with faculty.

None of my professors know my name. I really enjoyed My law and society 1 class. Unfortunately, unless you are a major, you cannot take any more classes, and they discontinued the major.

I have taken classes where there is not much space for individual thought. The teacher just wants you to regurgitate back what he/she has spoken in class without adding your own opinion. However, I have also have had classes where I have learned so much and there was an area for me to add my own thought on the subject. I sometimes think classes are way too big and its hard to get time with the professor for help.
