UD had everything: a winning football tradition, great places to eat in town, fun bars (although some since then are gone), academic programs, several extracurriculars, life-changing study abroad programs, an independent student newspaper, a variety of on-campus eateries and proximity to Philly, Baltimore and the Delaware beaches. My advice to all in-coming Blue Hens is get involved! join clubs, look into Greek life, go to sport games, go to lectures, join political or religious clubs, and do a study abroad program. One bit of advice though: get knowledgeable, learn everything you can about UD before coming, whether it's your degree requirements, student government, places to eat, places to take your parents, what dorms you'd prefer, where important offices or departments are, etc. The more you know ahead of time, the less lost and overwhelmed you'll be when you arrive.

Kristen

I studied abroad in Australia/New Zealand during the winter session of 2006 and it was by far the best experience of my life. Not only did I learn a lot and see an amazing part of the world, but I met and became friends with people that I know I will be friends with forever. It was also a great experience because coming back and starting the spring semester I had made 35 new friends and there was atleast one of them in everyone of my classes. It was great to know more people around campus and the bump into people everywhere I went. I am the strongest advocate of UD's study abroad program, and I wish that I could have experienced it more than just twice. I do not feel it should be a graduation requirement to study abroad, but I believe everyone who is interested should take full advantage of what UD has to offer because it is very unique and unforgettable.

GO UD! BEST 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE.

I loved UD and Dan Mesure! :)

I think that the Strike policy is incredibly out of control. I also believe that students are afraid to call 911 for a friend that may be in danger (from drinking etc.) because they do not want that friend to get in trouble. This is a horrible thing because it is putting students in serious danger!

The food!! Delaware needs to improve their oncampus food options. But I hear we are a lot better than other schools...

Caitlin

Delaware is the best. I received an excellent education and created friendships with people that I will hold on to for life.

Study abroad is very big here. About 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of all students study abroad and love it. Many far away out of state students come here because of that reason. Dining halls and athletic facilities for students need to be bigger.

Delaware is full of students who didn't get into their first choice. We all agree it's the best choice we never made. Delaware may have been a bit of an accident but it's the best thing that has happened to me.

I love Delaware. It was by far the best four years of my life, and I can truly say that of all of my friends, I had one of the best, if not the best, college experience. It is a great atmosphere to learn in, as well as to live life in. I wouldn't change a single thing about my college experience.

Here's my advice-I'm in grad school now and it's not nearly as fun or exciting as college so... DO well in school and be responsible but spend lots of time with friends, make tons of memories, take lots of pictures, party, stay up late, and take the college scene for all it's worth because-I hate to say it-it's over before you know it. Best of luck wherever you may go!
