University of Denver Top Questions

What's unique about your campus?

As a student of the University of Denver, I had the chance to experience the voice it gives its students. Being a primarily all white school, it can be difficult for people of color such as myself to feel comfortable but that doesn't stop us from making our point on the campus. The best thing about DU is the opportunity the university gives students from all over the spectrum and allow them to bring awareness to different issues and express ourselves.

Kelsey

The possible best thing about this school is that everything is so fast paced, leaving little to no opportunity to get bored.

Autumn

The opportunities DU gives are incredible. A highlight is the Cherrington Global Scholars program, which allows almost every student to study abroad for the same price as their DU tuition. Career placement help and networking are given in most majors, and for science majors like myself, there are ample opportunites to do research and make your resume stronger, which increases your chance of getting into grad school. I truly believe that if you use the resources provided, DU provides an excellent foundation for a career or pursuing a higher degree.

The classes are small and discussion based, which means that students get a lot of one on one attention from professors. Also, there are a ton of wonderful opportunities - DU makes it easy to find internships, study abroad, join on campus clubs and organizations, and much more. You will find that there is always something going on on campus that pertains to you, whether it be a lecture, event, or fundraiser. Overall, it's a great place to learn about yourself and thrive in a college environment.

The best thing about my school is the community. There's no room for people not to fit in at DU--there is a place for everybody, and there are activities that have such widespread participation that groups of the student body who would not normally hang out together end up being brought together. There's not a sense of division between the different student groups on campus; people are often part of lots of groups, and everybody is really supportive--this is great because it opens the door for students to have open minds and a well-rounded life.

The best thing about the University of Denver are the strong schools in Business, Law, and International Studies- these three programs gather much funding, and have world-class ranked professors and staff.

Lauren

For starters it is accredited and even though it is expensive, the connections you walk away with are worth it.

Mackenzie

The mixture of people who all work together is a pretty unique part of campus. Many campuses have conflicting viewpoints and such diversity that does not work together well. DU is a diverse environment where everyone gets along. There isn't even significant rivalry between fraternities, and they often work together for fundraisers. Campus Democrats and Campus Republicans work in junction with each other to register students to vote and participate in certain fundraisers, and there isn't any conflict at all among racial groups.

Brianna

The best part about my school is how much there is to do.

The University of Denver (DU) is a challenging school with excellent proffessors. The small class sizes allow students to build a real realitionship with their proffessors. This intimate setting creates a community of scholars who feel comfortable approching teachers with questions and ideas inside and out of the classroom. Classes at DU have encouraged me to take responsibilty for my own learning by making me feel like more than just a number to my professors. The Univeristy of Denver excells at creating a learning enviroment in which students and teachers can feel comfortable working together to further education.

McKenzie

The University of Denver is a very diverse, yet prestigeous school. They are devoted to seeking out minority students with great potential. Not only that, students from all over the world travel to Denver to attend this school. I think that is incredible. It makes me feel special to be a part of such a globally known university. The diversity alone makes the University of Denver a great place to study, learn, and experience new perspectives.

The best thing about my school is the schedule. I love how DU is on the quarter system. This system makes for a very fast paced fall quarter, but because I am the type of person that is able to do things very quickly and hates to waste time, this system is perfect for me. The quarter system also allows me to keep my part time job, which is in retail sales, and allows me to work full time during the holiday season, when I am most needed and make the most money in commission.

It is a very good university with a smaller population that allows for good integration while also providing the typical needed college atmosphere. It is located in a great place and boasts a beautiful campus.

The best thing about D.U. would be the small sized classes. Classes contain quality professor-student interactions. Being able to comfortably talk with your professors allows a better learning experience. Unlike larger campuses with hundreds of students per lecture, students have the advantage of interacting with professors and peers. The are classes noteworthy, but the campus is beautiful. Red-colored stone paths, green grasses, and eye-catching trees and squirrels complement the blue skies and sunshine we often receive. The food and social life are a few extra luxuries here that I cannot sum up in 100 words.

Most public institutions have exceptionally high populations of students. Some students in high volume settings may be discouraged from interacting in class or even asking for assistance from their professors. The University of Denver provides its students with an average teacher student ratio of 1:25. These lower volume classes provide the students with a more personalized experience and a stronger connection with their educators. This approach encourages all of its students to interact in a classroom setting and yields a greater potential for learning to occur.

Eloy

The cirriculum, teachers and facility are all part of the great expereince at DU. Every class I have attened so far has been taught by a seasoned professional and not a TA. Small class size facilitate a greater learning expereince.

Bryan

The class sizes and the guidance provided by the professors can't be beaten. You really get to know the professors and they are always willing to assist you with school work or contacts in the business world. This helps tremendously for a college student looking for work and can ultimately determine their sucess in life after college.

Joseph

The size is just right, not too small, not too large. The environment is amazing, both geological and social. The academics are top notch by any standards, and all of the professors are very friendly, knowledgable, understanding, and caring.

Nicole

The size is great and the professors have all been very enthusiastic about teaching. The students at DU are independent, unique, and great people.
