My school is welcoming and challenging.

One of the most iconic parts of the University of Illinois is its appearance. The Quad, which is where most undergraduate classes are, is a rectangular grassy area lined by historic buildings. The most beautiful time to be on campus is in the fall. The trees change color and the Quad truly looks like a postcard.
Some other famous places on campus are the bell tower at Altgeld Hall, which performs a chimes concert every afternoon, Follinger Auditorium, which looks beautiful lit up at night, and the Japan House, with a variety of breathtaking landscape architecture techniques.

Very large and over-encumbering, but in reality the campus can even seem small at times. There are just enough people for you to find your own identity and not feel lost.

The school is located in 2 towns. Wright Street is the dividing line. To the east (Urbana) is 95{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the campus buildings, the quad, and a lot of the research buildings. There is a lot of tradition and history to the campus buildings. There are some renovations going on in some of the buildings currently in order to update them to have a more modern look. The north part of campus is where there is a major research building and the Engineering quad. The South Part of campus is where the Business buildings are. The center is where the general education courses take place as well as numerous upper level courses. The Business Building is very new and has a very modern look.
The west part of campus (Champaign) contains the majority of apartments, dorms, and houses that students live in This is the more social part of campus during the nights and weekends. There is always something going on in this area. There are apartments on the Urbana side but that is a more quiet area, and way to the east, contains sororities but no parties are allowed there. Most fraternities are on the Champaign side. The sports complex resides on the Southwest side of campus and South part of campus.
The campus always has something going on, and I cannot forget Green Street. Green street is a street that goes through the center of campus and contains many restaurants and local businesses. It always is busy! Oh, the bars can be found near Green Street, too. The only part I forgot was the north side of campus (north part of Champaign), and this contains more apartments that students live in. Usually upperclassmen live in these apartments.

Personally, with the red brick buildings on some parts of campus and the looming bell tower, I feel like I'm in England. The campus is simply beautiful and goes on for miles. After all, it does span over two towns. A micro-urban strip pops up as you head past the Illini Union, and it makes you feel like you are in a mini Chicago, without all the speeding traffic.

Our school looks pretty big! But being a tour guide on campus, it has been brought to my attention that we don't have the 15 floor buildings that other schools do, making the campus appear smaller. Our campus would look continuous, you don't have to go through part of town to get to the other parts of campus. It would look like a prestigious school as most of the buildings are brick and usually match. Most prospective students tell me that the campus look big, but manageable.

Immaculate. The Quad is beautiful. There are large buildings all over campus that promote big ideas and encourage a student's passion for major accomplishments. It is a big campus that offers a whole ton of resources, from academic to fun times out to grabbing something to eat.

Our school huge, and even that's and understatement. Almost everyone I've talked to about the size of our campus agrees- it goes on for days! Stepping foot on campus for the first time, I remember seeing beautiful buildings and lots of unfamiliar faces. It's easy to be swallowed up in the immense size of our student population, not to mention most of your classes are at least a quarter-mile away.
Imagine walking down Michigan Ave. in Chicago IL., or even going down a typical street in Manhattan, NY. Now replace the honking taxis and skyscrapers with grass and brick architecture... and a lot of orange shirts: you're at U of I.
