Anyone that is trying to get ahead in life while they are in the military.

UMUC is very nice for military members and families. This is because the classes are only eight weeks long (due to deployments and state-to-state moves) and the per credit hour price is more affordable for military members and dependents. Also, UMUC offers several online classes, degrees, and certifications. This would be helpful for part-time students or students who work better online than in a traditional classroom setting.

Anyone that is looking for a great education.

A person who wants to succeed. A person who is very responsible and indepenent, but they know when to ask and recieve help. This person needs to have an end goal in mind ot help them stay focused. Also, they need to catch on quickly with the class session being so fast at only eight weeks long. Like any student, this person would have to be ogranized with their class work so they can meet deadlines and help keep their grades up.

Soldiers who don't know they have other options.

I believe almost any kind of person can attend this school, as long as they are willing to learn and further their education. The school I have chosen, University of Maryland -University College, welcomes all.

I do not recommend this school for high school graduates. Many students who attend UMUC are Military Veterans and adults who are continuing there education. The majority of students are taking online courses thus there is not alot of face to face interaction. This school is ideal for non traditional students and military veterans who wish to complete their degree in a timely fashion. The class that are schedule are done so with working students in mind so that they can carry a full time job and still attend school.

Students that attend University of Maryland-University College should posess these qualities; Self-motivated, focused, dedicated. Additionally, students should be willing to learn a wide range of skills withing their desired area of study. It is also an outstanding transition if you previously enrolled in a two year college. This University offers an outstanding online program if you desire flexibility with your schedule.

This school, is extremley military friendly, and caters to active duty military personnel.

One that is serious about earning a degree

The kind of person who is serious about their education. I have learned a great deal while attending UMUC -- some days I wanted to stop studying but thanks to the wonderful faculty and staff at UMUC they encouraged me to continue on. It took me approximately 11 years to obtain my degree, but with perseverance and etermination, I did it.

Someone who is unable to take courses within a traditional setting for whatever reasons.

I feel that anyone could attend this school. Personally anyone that wants the flexiblity to learn online and at their own pace would appreciate this school. Their website and staff are helpful especially if you are not in the country.

I think there are many people that would enjoy going to The University of Maryland. They offered a wide variety of classes in numerous settings for different students. Their class selection was very large and they offered many opportunities to expand the student experience. I found it helpful they had such a wide variety of online cIasses. They are military friendly, helping me navigate the process of using the G.I. Bill to pay for my tuition. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this institution and would recommend it to any student who wished to have a positive college experience.

The kind of person that should attend UMUC should be a self-motivated and dedicated individual that is willing and wanting to learn. Good amount of online classes are available.

Focused, disciplined, career minded

The kind of person who should attend this school is someone like me. I work full time and cannot attend a traditional 4 year university; not having the time to actually drive to campus and attend class, I also can't afford to pay for tuition, books, AND parking. This school is perfect for working professionals who need online access to classes around their schedules, instead of attending a class geared towards people several years their junior and have much more free time and less responsibilities, like working full time, paying several bills, and taking care of a family.

I'm attending the Europe branch of this school (military spouse). Someone who travels a lot would find the online classes suitable for them. A person on top of their game should attend this school, because at the Europe branch, they don't always have their act together. Overall I think any student could do well with UMUC.
