Michigan is a great environment for any college student. Ann Arbor is the perfect college town, with a mix of quality eateries, entertainment, and nightlife. Ann Arbor has the amenities of a large city in the size of a large town - you can find anything you need between the State Street and South University areas. The campus is conveniently located in the center of the school, and the grounds are well-maintained year-round. The range of academic programming is unbelievable - there is a course for literally anything you are interested in. And of course, Michigan football Saturdays are unlike anything else in the country - the entire student body is awake by 10am to cheer on the Wolverines at the big house. School spirit is huge here, every student owns Michigan gear and flaunts it around campus. But what truly make the campus so great are the students; Michigan students are the brightest and the best from around the globe. We are all proud to be Michigan Wolverines, and cherish our collegiate experiences for life. The University of Michigan truly is an amazing environment.

I LOVE IT HERE! and most students do. the campus is gorgeous, but we're still right in the heart of Ann Arbor (one of my favorite college towns ever!). Yeah it's big, but there are a million ways to make it feel smaller. Just join a club or get a job on campus and you'll definitely be fine. Greek life has a pretty big presence here, but it's not overwhelming. I'm not in a sorority and I definitely still have friends and go out and whatnot (having said that, Greek life is great for some people! it's just not the only way to have a social life here.) The administration is really helpful, but they don't baby you. you have to be the one to contact them with questions or concerns...but once you do, they're always willing to help you out. overall a great school, with a great balance of academics and fun stuff. go blue!!!

I can no longer imagine going to school anywhere but Michigan. When I was applying to schools I didn't think enough about how important the location is, and Ann Arbor is literally the PERFECT college town - the campus dominates half the town and is surrounded by great student bars and hip restaurants, some of which are regularly open into the wee hours of the night. The university is one of the largest employers (including our first-class hospital), so the townspeople love students. The town is really intellectual - everywhere you go people are having great discussions over coffee and shopping at the farmers market. I love telling people I go to Michigan because they talk to me about how much they love an Ann Arbor and how our football team is doing. Its an impressive and widely-known school without being intimidatingly intellectual. The students and the people of Michigan love the school - more Michigan apparel is sold than almost any other school in the entire world, and the school has the largest alumni network in existence.

Michigan is the worst school I have ever attended. Students were not treated with respect and the quality of academic instruction was terrible.

I love the size of Michigan. I originally applied ED to a small liberal arts school and THANK GOD I didn't get in. If your one issue with Michigan is the size don't let that bother you!! There are a million and one ways to make it smaller. The Residential College is a fabulous two year program in which you literally take classes in your dorm with really cool topics. Greek life is also a fantastic way to do this. If a typical frat or sorority isn't your thing, there are community service and pre-professional frats that have the same community without the animal house stigma. Ann Arbor as a college town is great. Usually your first two years will be spent frequenting frat and house parties. Its mostly Juniors and Seniors who frequent the city more. That said there are a ton of clubs and bars that are open to you all four years (most are 18+). We also have chain stores (American Apparel, Urban Outfitters) and some lesser known stores. Theres a ton of both chain and local restaurants. The one experience I will always remember is my Ohio State game. At pre game we were all enjoying our...beverages. At about 10 in the morning "Don't Stop Believing" Came On We were all singing, dancing, and shouting in our Maize and Blue, ready for the game against our biggest rivals. Even though we didn't win, it was such a quintessential college and Michigan experience. On game day it is rare to see someone not in Maize and/or blue, but every day you'll see at least 25{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of people--if not more, wearing Michigan apparel.

The campus is beautiful. The benefits of a large school are worth it, you have a big library, a great online image system, there are good visiting artists that come speak in the Michigan theatre. The city itself has a lot to offer. Lots of interesting cuisine, shopping, places to go, a variety of places to go out too and good public transportation. Its a very easy city to bike around, and the houses are all interesting. One of my favorite perks of the University was free gym access with full-time status, and there are three gyms ones can use, so at least one is pretty accessible no matter where you live. Football games are fun because Michigan fans are very energetic.

Anywhere you go, you will find people to share a GO BLUE moment with. The school pride of students and alumni is unmatchable, and rightfully so. Greek life on campus is a huge social outlet, yet the beauty of U of M is that you don't have to pigeonhole yourself, thanks to the wide variety of social, political and academic clubs, sports, and student organizations. You can do all or none of these extracurriculars and still have an incredible life on campus. That's one of the great things about having such a large, diverse school; no matter what you do you'll fit in somewhere and meet great people. The town of Ann Arbor is also an incredible asset of the school. With restaurants open until 3am, not only is it a pleasure to walk through town simply to get to class, but the night life in Ann Arbor is always vivacious.

The only problem with Michigan is the weather. Its freezing but its worth it. Ann Arbor is amazing and is practically built around the campus, definitely a college town. Football Saturdays are the best, I had never watched a football game before coming to school here and now I can't get enough. People here bleed maize and blue so it's hard not to get into the Michigan spirit.

Overall, there couldn't be a better school. It has the perfect blend of superior academics, sports, and social life. When you tell people you go to Michigan it opens their eyes. It's recognized nationally for their great alumni, sports, and reputation. Since Michigan students are generally considered well rounded academically and socially, many jobs are eager to hire Michigan graduates. It is not too big, its not too small. Its a perfect fit size wise. Great group of students and theres never a dull moment on campus. The one complaint is the weather. The weather is acutally really bad, but you get used to it.

Michigan is an amazing school to go to, Ann Arbor is beautiful, and the people here are so different and interesting. I love how there is a lot of out-of-state students that go to Michigan, because you meet so many new people and learn so much about them. One of the best things about Michigan is the arb, it is a huge nature jungle and my favorite to go running in. Overall, the campus is beautiful and the people are funky, I love it here.

There's a lot to do. I would make the administration care about the students more and not worry about things that aren't important or illegal and wrong (aka affirmative action)

I got an internship and took a semester off to work down in Louisiana. So now I have to go to school for one more semester than most of my classmates. I am sad that everyone will be leaving and I will be here in the fall. But I will be busy with class and I'm sure I will find things to do: Ann Arbor always has some activity to offer like a concert or a basketball game. I think this is an excellent school, very intelligent and intellectual people come here, and the diversity is amazing, this university really prepares you for life, especially with the challenging courses, though sometimes it's hard when you realize that all you are doing is competing for the better grade in all of our classes compared to your peers. The Michigan spirit is everywhere though, and even the alumni are really close to the university.

Michigan is more than a University. It's an experience. The people you meet, the things you learn, the opportunities you are afforded-all these things will stay with you for the rest of your life. You'll have award winning professors, you'll have All-American and Olympic athletes sitting next to you in class, and you'll see celebrities and politicians walking around campus. Our alumni network is the largest in the world. As a result you'll find doors opening for you that you never thought possible because you went/go to Michigan. When you come to Michigan you join a family and that family will be with you for the rest of your life if/when you ever need anything.

Nice mix of work-hard, play-hard. Academics are taken seriously,but a very enjoyable social life available as well.

The best thing about Michigan is how much there is to do. It can be a huge school, and you can be anonymous, or you can participate in a small living/learning community and make it really small and everyone in your community will know your name. Also, Ann Arbor has all of the benefits of a small-town atmosphere with the amenities of a bigger city, like places to shop and eat and walk around and a great public transit system.

Size is good. In state people thing umich overrated, out of state are impressed. Ann Arbor is a great town!

I absolutely love this school. It is a huge school, but I like that it is so big. When I tell people I go to Michigan they are impressed. I spend a lot of time walking around the Ann Arbor liberal streets. People stress the diversity at Michigan, however most stereotypes stay together. There is not much blending of cultures here.
