University of Montevallo Top Questions

Like many anxious upcoming freshmen to a university atmosphere, I simply wish I would have known how to come out of my comfort zone more easily in the beginning instead of being reserved. Even though the students at the University of Montevallo welcomed me with open arms and made me feel very comfortable, I wish I would have been prepared for the emotions I would experience after suddenly being handed ultimate freedom after years of attending school with the same people and being so comfortable with the peers I had grown accustomed to.

Before coming to Montevallo, i wish i would have known that the teachers would be so open to assist their students in every way possible. In Montevallo's classrooms, they have at least a 22:1 sutdent - teacher ratio. This is something that i love. It gives the teachers a chance to give their students more one on one time as well as get know their names and faces. Another thing that i wish i would have known about Montevallo is our diverse it is. Everyday on Montevallo's campus you see new people with a different cutlure, personality, & belief.

I wish that I had figured out my best studying style. I wish that I would have known that there was not a functioning internship program for my department.

I wish that I had known more about scholarship opportunities.

I wish I had known about other scholarships that I could have applied for to help pay for expenses.

Hmm, I wish I had known about the Shelby County Police. They will find any reason to arrest or ticket you.

I wish I had known beforehand how liberal arts it was. Most teachers require more than just scantron tests, with lots of writing and research.

How small the city is. I knew it was a small city but didn't really understand how inconvenient that would be. There is nothing to do off of campus.

I wish i had known that there are no events on the weekends.
