Very friendly, social, and understanding.

Extemely diverse group of people; every background, every race, every social class.
sarah
They are helpful and engaging.
Darian
My classmates were always one of two ways. They were either very friendly and engaged or rarely, if ever, showed up to class.
Kelsey
I would have to describe my classmates as crazy, unpredicatble, talented, and genuine; regardless of if we're all competing against each other, we all want to see each other succeed!

There is a very diverse student population at UNT. There isn't really any type of student that could possibly be left out. UNT has good scholarship opportunities so there are all types of socio-economic statuses, and there are religiously based organizations from Christian to Atheist to Muslim. There is somewhat of a clique problem, so at first it can be hard to make friends in the large student population. But this problem can be avoided by joining organizations and being social in and out of class. While groups may not actively seek out new people, they rarely reject someone interested in joining them. Most of the students commute, and the ones that do live on campus are mostly from the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex, but there are many foreign exchange students and students from out of state as well.

I have found some of my best friends at this school in only a few months. It's amazing to me how you can find people you click with so well, so fast in college who you would've never known existed back in high school. Since UNT is such a diverse campus, everyone is so accepting and everyone will find there place at the school.

Our school has a large and varied population. I'd say most of the students come from around the surrounding DFW area, but our school really loves to celebrate diversity! Multicultural days are always really busy. We have a lot of international students, and a lot of our teachers come from all around the world as well. There is an active chapter of GLAD on campus--- they hold a Second Chance Prom every year. I know we have a few Christian-focused clubs, and but then again I'm pretty sure we have an Atheists Club as well. XD I haven't seen any racial discrimination firsthand--- then again, I'm a white girl. That said, I am friends with people of varied ethnicities. I don't want to say "race isn't a factor" here, because that would be ridiculous, but--- in general, Denton, and UNT by extension, are pretty accepting. And we're not a population that supports or abides mistreating people.
Dress style is definitely on the casual side. I see pajama bottoms a whole heck of a lot. XD Basically, everyone's just very chill (or lazy, take your pick~). As far as politics goes, we run the gamut, but I'd say we lean more toward The Daily Show / The Colbert Report, like any good college campus. XD We did have our own little "Occupy Denton" peeps out there for a bit on the campus green.
Basically, there are so many people here, you will definitely find someone (usually multiple someones!) who shares your interests/political opinions/fashion sense/whatever.

Most of my classmates have more money than I do and a really good support system. As for me I do not. I come from low middle class broken home. I had a child while I was in high school so I never feel like I can actually belong with them. While most of my classmates are partying, I am usually working or taking care of my child.
