So, are these stereotypes accurate...?
1: True and false! I'm sure there are kids who wanted to go to UT Austin or A&M and didn't make it in, but that's not the case for everyone. I didn't graduate in the top 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of my class so UT wasn't an option and I didn't like the "cult" atmospheres of A&M and Texas Tech, so what's the other choice? UNT. For a lot of people, they come to UNT because they didn't like the atmospheres of their other universities, UNT has the largest number of students transferring into it. And the reason they come here is because it is so diverse, cheap, and kind of easy to get into.
2. No... We have a great music program and it's awesome to go to music concerts in the nice, new performing center and we draw attention internationally. But with a student body of over 34,000 students, we have more to offer than music.
3. Refer to post #2. There are many "hipsters" here, which is a drawback for me, but the student population is so diverse you can find your click and settle happily no matter how you tend to stereotype yourself or not stereotype yourself.
4. Mixed. There are some AMAZING programs at UNT and there are some that are just, "meh." If you're looking at the broad scope of arts & science degrees, we have it pretty good. Outside of arts & science which is very broad, I'm not so sure... Now I've been to more than 1 colleges and been to lectures at multiple universities and met a multitude of professors from other universities and I have to say this. UNT will have the BEST and the WORST professors ever. Some are absolutely brilliant and their brilliance will just put you in awe, and then there's some you look at them and wonder how they got a degree let alone a job.
5. Yes & no. If you're a music major, they come from all over the place so if you're one of those kids and live in another state, have no fear! All of your buddies will be hanging around with you all the time! But yes, a lot of students are from the DFW area and commute or go home on the weekends, but that's one of the many reasons people go to UNT. Referring to stereotype #1 many people go to UNT because of it's near location to DFW and didn't go to another school because of it's location. And being right next to DFW opens a lot of job opportunities and fun weekends out.

Nerdy and bandish, no, I'm a psychology major and have absolutely no instrumental abilities. Yeah we are a bit liberal here at North Texas but I'm always proud to talk about my firm conservative values. It can be interesting being a conservative in a school of liberals but theres always great conversation and alot of shared ideas, views and values. We embrace diversity at North Texas.
