I have gotten many valuable experiences in my college experience such as the new and higher knowledge I have learned in my courses and the experience of being able to say that I am attending college is worth the many obstacles that I am faced with. It has been valuable to attend because it is just one step closer to achieving my goals and dreams of becoming successful.

For most of my life, I grew up in a small town where it was common to find a person with just as similar beliefs as the next. Most residents were Christian, conservative, and Caucasian who carefully refrained from the taboos of society. With this way of life, all was simple and went unquestioned.
As a result of this, I could have never prepared myself for the sprawling environment I was about to experience as a freshman at the University of North Texas. With just as simple as walking to my first class, I had been exposed to more conflicting ideas, beliefs, and values then I had ever seen in my previous entire eighteen years of living in the same small town. Whether it was women from the feminist organization telling me to appreciate my body or students from the Republican committee telling me why I should vote for Rick Perry as the governor, every person I saw at college allowed me to challenge my beliefs and question not only my society, but also who I am as a person. All of this exposure has allowed me to become the well-rounded, educated, and stronger individual that I am today.

First of all I'm in a multicultural service/social fraternity, so I consider that one of the most valuable experiences because it has helped amplify the value of my other experiences. I have done community service that prior to I had never seen myself doing. I've been a volunteer counselor at a weekend camp for mentally disabled people from ages 18+. I have volunteered for organizations such as CIS, Habitat For Humanity, Humane Society, CASA, etc. In high school there wasnt a need to study outside of school to recieve good grades, and now I've surprised myself by the discipline I have displayed when it comes to completing my weekly study hours. My networking and social life have significantly increased, which as a hospitality management major is definitely valuable experience. For example, I've learned to become social with a great diversity of individuals, and although knowledge is important, networking (who you know) is equally if not more important for fresh "inexperienced" graduates.

A sense of self. I have come into my own while at UNT. I have made many friends I can count on and have had experience someone only dreams of. I am fortunate to have the college experience I currently have and even more so, I am thankful for it. This is such a valuable experience for me because of not only the education I have obtained but the self awareness of who I am and who I want to be in the future. Knowing what I want for myself out of life is utterly rewarding.

My college experience has opened my eyes to in a sense the "real world" in comparison to high school or living at home under the "watchful eye" of my parents. I have met many life-long friends, and forged relationships with my teachers as well as mentors in my major. I enjoy being involved in activities on campus, meeting with other students who have the same goals and dreams. I like knowing that I am making my own imprint on the world, seperate from that of my family, and I believe getting an education and undegoing the college experience is helping me to achieve all of this.

I started my college experience while still in high school as a dual enrollment student at a community college, and I discovered that it was way different from high school. Of course I still had the classroom-like environment as I did in high school, but outside the classroom was very different. In college, we don't have a bell schedule so I have the responsibility of getting to class on time. I feel that I have alot more freedom in college because I have the opportunity to choose when and what time I want my classes, where I want to eat (whether its on or off campus), and what activities I want to join on campus. Extra-curricular activities make the college life more enjoyable such as vollunteering for activities such as fall social event I took part in at my community college. I will be transferring to a larger university in the spring, and I'm very excited about joining the activities that they offer on their campus such as the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, or the church campus choir. I'm a freshman in college now, and I'm exited for my future in college amd beyond!

I've had the opportunity to learn so much, both career and real world related. I believe i will leave with a sense of overall fulfillment: educated, socially receptive, and ambitious. These are the characteristics in which I believe will have me destined for success. Thus far, I have had the privilege to work with many great educators. With that, I feel as if that aspect of my goal is well on its way.

Out of the college experience I hace gotton a whole knew out look on the world. I have realized that you have to be more serious, responsible, and you can not do stuff on your own time. I feel college has been valuable to attend because its getting you ready for your career. All the hard work you do in college perpares you for all the hard work and late nights you will have in your job career. The college experience is great., I feel its showing me that hard work does pay off. Futhermore out of the college experience i have gained patience as a person.

My university experience has allowed me to explore all the options available to me as a young person pursuing the world. Most importantly as a college student, I have learned how to relate to all different types of people. This is more important to me than any kind of book knowledge that I could ever gain. Life is about our relationships with people. Its how you deal with them that will make the most difference. I guarantee the thing I will remember most when I graduate is not Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, but who I meet and what they taught me about the world through their own experiences.
