The stereotype of students at U.R.I. is that of stoners. If you have seen my other answers you will see that I reference this multiple times. It is relatively prevalent on campus. I remember after transferring and living on campus I lived in Heathman Hall, and I had a joined room via bathroom with another student. For the majority of the year the kid I was joined with dealt, the kid across the hall dealt, and there was a kid down that hall that dealt medicinal stuff. It can be hard to get away from, but it does instill a strong constitution if you choose to avoid it.

Never on task...party animals.
Steve
As incomming freshman, many students believe that you need to be involved in a Fraternity or Sorority in order to have a social life. This is not the case at all. Join a club or find friends to study with and there will be things to do on the weekends.
URI has a reputation as a party school. It is.. more so as upper classmen once you have a chance to Network with other students
Valerie
Partiers. Jersey Girls.
Carolina
URI can sometimes get a bad rep as a party school, we also have two other stereotypes, we get a lot of the hippie stereotype and the "jersey girl" stereotype.
Tara
The biggest stereotype is probably that kids at URI are all big partiers.
Taylor
Some adults that I've told I go to URI think its a HUGE party school.
Tracey
That URI is a party school.
Leah
That they are all drunk sorority girls and dumb jocks
Joanna
I haven't heard of any yet, maybe that there are a lot of "guidos"?
Drew
Since the university has had an image as a party school portrayed for some time, the fairly recent changes away from that mindset haven't really registered yet. As a result, everyone still thinks that people come to this school for its entertainment value, not for a good education.
Dylan
Some stereotypes on the out- of staters is that they are rich spoiled drug-addicts.
The in-staters fair much better with a rep of hard work as a means to get out of the situation they are in. They work hard to get their grades and earn a chance at great success.
Alex
That we love to party and get wasted a lot.
Julie
That we are just a huge party school
Caroline
That everyone is from RI and everyone likes to party
Samantha
Party school with lots of drinking
Ashley
its a party school
Gina
URI is viewed as a party school. Many would like to believe it is not as big of a party school as it used to be. However, this is only true for on campus. A short drive down the line to a bar or house will prove you wrong.
Mitch
We are a party school, and that we don't care about the type of work we do, that we are just at Rhody to have fun.
