St. Thomas, as a private Catholic college, has a reputation for being a little conservative. However, I have friends who are everything from bisexual atheists to conservative seminarians, and we all love St. Thomas. There is an Allies organization and College Democrats, and there's also a Pro-Life vigil and College Republicans. We're honestly like any other college...you can find whatever people or activities suit your personality :)

It may be suprising, but UST has a diverse student population. Not every student is Catholic, and there are people with all fatih lives and levels of faithfullness. Many St. Thomas students are from the Twin Cities area, but we have students from many different areas of the country and the world represented as well.

Our diverse student body means there are always opportunities to learn about other backgrounds and cultures. We have students from five minutes away and from other countries. Although interaction between different groups of students is never forced, it seems to happen naturally for most people.

About half of the students at UST are Catholic, and most come from the greater Twin Cities area and middle class backgrounds. However, there are students from many different religions, locations and financial situations, and a variety of religious and cultural events frequently occur on campus. The political flavor on campus ranges from liberal to conservative to undecided. Small class sizes and involved students mean that interactions between a variety of students happens on a daily basis. I've definitely become more aware of differing beliefs and cultures by the friendships I've made and classes I've taken.
Amanda
My classmates are wonderful. They are always willing to help me if I have any questions about the class, the assignment, or anything else.
Robert
Unique people from diverse backgrounds that all desire to better themselves.
Jenessa
My fellow classmates are driven, intelligent, enjoy having a good time, and have an unbelievable willingness to learn.

Three words come to mind when describing my peers; motivated, positive and ambitious. The University of St. Thomas is a place that attracts excellence and above all expects excellence out of each member of our community. It is a religious institution, and one will find a large group of people, from many different backgrounds dedicated to bettering our world. The staff and students at UST fully demonstrate our school mission "Challange yourself, change our world."
Ashley
My classmates are respectable, they have a williness to learn and they have dreams to achieve great things and their passion to succeed is contagious.
Jillian
My classmates are focused on pursuing goals of passionate origins, motivated to reach out to those in need, and unintimidated by brisk conversation!
Melissa
At the beginning they were hard to get to know, but after awhile they turned out to be really great people, and most were easy to talk to.
Kristine
My classmates have very similar interests as me and are equally driven.
Shakira
Even though most of my classmates are of a different race than me, they are very diverse in their attitude toward school, their personality, and their economic status.
Megan
I have been thoroughly blessed with good classmates during my first semester at college. Before big test or finals, some of my classmates would schedule group study sessions so that we could help each other out and get the most out of our education. My classmates are all concerned about their grades, so they are very reliable when working on group projects or during group study sessions.
Ian
most are of the same background as me
Katie
In one word, my classmates can be described as diverse, not only by race, but by level of intelligence, economic status, style, and aptitude.
David
Hard working, intelligent and fun.
Amy
Ver bright, diverse students, coming from all walks of life.
Heather
My classmates are very interactive students who are interested in learning more about their field of interest and mostly take their academics seriously.
Karen
the people in my classes are enthusiastic learners.
