What's the most frustrating thing about University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh?

Kane

The most frustrating thing about my school, would have to be that my curriculum was changed in the middle/end of my studies; I understand that the school needs to be progressive, but I feel as though I should have been grandfathered in.

Nathan

The isolation, one may feel in UWO, can be very challenging. I live five hours away from campus, and I had a hard time making friends and sociallizing in a new environment. There are very few options to socialize on campus.

Ellie

The most frustrating thing is the variety of clubs to pick from! There's so many I want to join, but I don't have enough time in my schedule for all of them, sadly.

Tara

I would say the most frustrating thing is that I don't feel safe. There have been many incidents that occured in short periods of time and since I live off campus I walk by these areas on a daily basis. It gets scary especially since it gets dark out so quickly in the winter.

Serryn

The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is so far away from my home. I am taking my college courses online, but would like my school to be closer so that I may participate in school events. I am a single mother and I work full-time so there is little time for me to attend classes on campus. I would still like to be involved, attend veterans meetings and social clubs. I feel that being involved with your school and classmates contributes to successful learning.

The most frusterating thing about college is also the freedom. It's so easy to just not go to class becuase they won't call your parents and ask why you aren't in class. If the professor takes attendence, then you may just get points docked off your grade. Also, it's easy to take a nap or watch TV between classes instead of doing homework. With all the freedom, you really have to plan your days to accomodate your schedule.

Mark

I find the scholarly attempts to mold the viewpoints of students the most frustrating thing about this University. The textbooks are rich with useful information, though the information is often presented in a less than objective manner. Older students are able to discern the relevance of the information and make sound judgements regarding how they feel and apply the information. Younger students with less life experience need to carefully consider the information that is presented to them. Read, study and learn, the information is great, but use your critical thinking when applying your learning to your life and your world.

Marisa

The fact that my major (Human Services Leadership) is very backed up so it is likely that I will be in school for at least 5 years.

Lauren

The most frustrating thing about my school is the internet. I should be able to sit in my room without having to be connected to the ethernet chord and still be able to connect to the internet. Instead, when I was having problems with the internet they told me to go somewhere else besides my room to do my assignments. I had to go and buy a ethernet chord, and now it has to be connected to my computer at all times otherwise my internet will not work. I should be able to access it it within my room.

Alyssa

I really enjoy UW Oshkosh. The most frustrating thing about my school I guess could be that the dorms are gross. The rooms are very tiny and there is no space in a dorm to keep many belongings. Also, the bathrooms on each floor are disgusting. It's really difficult to live in such a confined space and to share a bathroom with several people who do not share the same hygenic standards as yourself.

Shari

The most frustrating thing about my school is enrolling for the classes. There are a lot of students who attend and the classes get filled very quickly. Students here need to be on top of it and enroll in classes quickly if they want to get into the ones they want.

Alexander

The most frustarting part about Oshkosh is the timeliness of returing work to students. I have had a number of classes across several different academic disciplines with professors that take all semester to return work. In the meantime, students are unaware of their status in the class. It has been my experience that by the time professors return work, it is too late to do anything about your grade, and that does not seem to bother some instructors at all.

Matthew

The most frustrating thing about the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is the meal plan. The standered freshman meal plan is made to screw you over. You can only use your meals during specific times of the day, and if you do not use them you lose them. I wish that the meal plans were put together more fairly for the students.

Allison

What frustrates me about Oshkosh is the meal plan times. As a Freshman I had a meal plan where I got 15 meals per week and how they divided this up was that you could have 1 meal per meal period either breakfast 7-10am lunch 10:01-4pm or dinner 4:01-7pm. The problem with this was that I had classes all morning so I would eat lunch and then work at 4 so I wasn't able to eat more than one meal per day with my meal plan that I paid for which really frustrated me.

Zeeshan

There is nothing I've really found frustrating. The only thing I can really think of is that for commuters parking sometimes like in the middle of the day can be a struggle to find since they just closed one parking lot.

Emily

The meal plans for freshmen. Thankfully by the end of this year I will be out of the woods, but I am empathetic for the freshmen that follow me. One, if I want to have lunch at four and still have dinner later, I should be able to without the cold consequence of having to use a bonus meal. Two, if I want to feed the hungry with the extraweekly meals I do not use, I should be able to. Let there be nourishment at any hour and generosity permitted with any meal that is available.

Abigail

The most frustrating thing about school is the dynamic between students and some professors.

Kijana

The most frustating thing about my school is there isn't a tutor for the math class I'm currently taking.

Aisha

Honestly, at UW Oshkosh the perks far outweigh the frustrations. In fact, the few frustrations I have are rather minor in nature. Perhaps the biggest one is that the dining hall closes at seven o' clock at night on weekdays, which I feel to be a tad early. However, there are solutions to this frustration, such as making a quick stop at the campus convenience store, which doesn't close until eleven, or choosing something from the dining hall's "to-go" station, which has a limited selection but is open until ten o' clock.

The most frustrating thing at UW - Oshkosh is the process of enrolling in classes. There are many different majors that need the same courses, causing these classes to fill up quickly and extensive wait lists to form. As at most schools, students with more credits get first dibs on enrolling. Unfortunately being only a sophomore and having one of the later enrollment dates so I struggle enrolling in classes I need in order to guarantee graduating after four years. Although I usually do get into the classes I need eventually, the process can be quite stressful.
