The ethnic diversity. It seems as if most other races come to this school due to being recruited by a certain sport.

They're starting to enact mandatory minimum meal plans this next year. And since it's getting rolled into the housing bill, you don't know how much you're paying for their food.

To get to all of the class you have to walk outside and that is not fun in the middle of winter with snow everywhere.

The smallness of the community can create unnecessary social drama. Whether or not one chooses to, drama normally follows or gossip occurs within such a small community.

The tuition, absolutely. Being it's a private liberal arts college, it can be up to $30,000 for the year, and sometimes students don't get as much financial aid as they need. It can be really difficult on the students who come from fairly low income families with no college savings accounts and are paying $30K a year from scratch. My GPA wasn't the greatest in high school, and my ACT score wasn't as high as I would have liked. Because of this, I wasn't able to receive any scholarships like most other students.

Since the student body is quite small, yet there are a wide variety of extracurriculars and volunteer opportunities, it is exceedingly easy for students to overextend themselves. The typical student is always willing to serve and usually has many different areas of interest. As a result of the presented opportunities, they take advantage of all of them. For example, one student may be in charge of completely unrelated organizations adding to the stress of the already rigorous course load.

Most of the stuff is done by computers or on lists, not face-to-face. I prefer talking to people directly to get the facts straight and make sure that someone responds to my questions.

I honestly can't think of anything. Sometimes our professors say we are in a little "bubble." A WELS, middle class bubble. However, I do feel that the campus is becoming more diverse every year.

The worst aspect of Wisconsin Lutheran College is it's lack of religious diversity. The college is WELS affiliated and has strong convictions to the Lutheran WELS religion. Though they are accepting of other religions, and many peers are of other non-WELS relgions, there is an over-lying pressure to be or act in a WELS manner- especially in theology classes. This is not pressure from faculty, just an 'aura' that looms at this college.

WLC does not really have any downsides as far as academics and the overall atmosphere goes. The school is adding different majors every year to the academic program. The atmosphere at this school is also very relaxed. I believe that the only down side is the cost of tuition. It is very expensive. Fortunately, WLC offers a scholarship programs for music and the arts. However, the main one is based on GPA; so if you bomb your first semester, your scholarship goes down. It is also really hard for students who don't gain a grant from FAFSA and others...
