In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be lawfully present in the United States.
  3. Must be an incoming freshman. The student must graduate from a a high school accredited by a state education agency or a regional accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
  4. Must plan to attend Missouri State University (Springfield campus).
  5. Must enroll full time in the year he/she graduates from high school.
  6. Must rank in the top 50 percent of his/her class OR have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale as of the end of his/her sixth semester of high school.
  7. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher OR an SAT score of 1030 or higher (critical reading and math sections only). ACT or SAT scores taken during or before October of the senior year will be considered.
  8. Must excel in three of the following four areas of involvement: leadership; volunteerism; performing arts; athletics.
  9. Must attend a college or university in Missouri.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who plan to enroll at Missouri State University as freshmen. Students must have a class rank in the top 50 percent or a grade point average of 3.0 or higher AND an ACT score of 20 or higher or an SAT score of 1030 or higher. Students must also excel in three of the following areas: leadership; volunteerism; performing arts; athletics.

Additional Information: The Centennial Leaders Scholarship Selection Committee will choose candidates from among the qualified applicants who will be invited to an on-campus interview program. Finalists will be selected as a result of the interview process. Interviews will be held in early March. Eligible students will be identified based on their admission application credentials. In determining eligibility, MSU will use the student's class rank, high school grade point average, and ACT or SAT scores when he/she is first admitted. If the student improves on one or more of these indicators by the deadline for a scholarship, his/her scholarship will be upgraded. Students must meet all admission requirements. Students approved for admission as exceptions to the high school core curriculum requirement may not receive scholarships unless approved by the MSU Scholarship Committee.

Award Amount: $2,500 per year ($1,000 for students who are also receiving either the Provost or Deans Scholarship). Total potential value over four years is $10,000 ($4,000 for recipients of Provost or Deans).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online on the Missouri State University (MSU) website. To be considered for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to MSU. Admissions information is available online at www.missouristate.edu/admissions/applynow.htm. Students may apply for admission online or by downloading and mailing a paper application. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a $35 application fee; official ACT and/or SAT scores (sent directly to MSU by the testing agency); and official transcripts for high school and any completed college credits. The student must also submit the scholarship application, which is only available online. Students must apply for admission and complete the scholarship application by Jan. 30. Please note: Students must also file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after Jan. 1. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices.
