Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 30 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must attend a high school located in San Mateo County or northern Santa Clara County (Daly City through Mountain View).
  3. Must enroll full time at an accredited college, university or technical school.
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or lower.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must demonstrate community involvement over a period of several years.
  7. Must be a resident of California.
  8. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. high school seniors who are residents of California attend a high school located in San Mateo County or northern Santa Clara County (Daly City through Mountain View) and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or lower. Students must demonstrate community involvement over a period of several years and be able provide evidence of partial self-support (e.g., savings from summer jobs, part-time work, etc.).

Additional Information: The Ruppert Educational Grant Program was established through a trust and bequest agreement by Ralph Hale Ruppert and Lenore Martha Ruppert, in memory of their mothers. The program is designed to give aid to young people who have financial need and are willing to help themselves. Preference is given to late-bloomers, students who show academic promise and improvement during their high school years, but are unlikely to receive other scholarships because of their low grade point averages. Students must demonstrate community involvement over a period of several years and be able provide evidence of partial self-support (e.g., savings from summer jobs, part-time work, etc.).

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available on the Silicon Valley Community Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation (the letters must be from the people listed on the application); an official transcript of grades; a personal statement addressing the topics listed on the application; evidence of financial need as described on the application; and proof of U.S. citizenship (photocopy of birth certificate, passport or naturalization papers). The complete application packet must be completed online by the deadline date.
