Number of Awards & Eligibility: Ten awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must major in journalism or political science.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  5. Must be a Muslim student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This award is for Muslim students who are majoring in political science or journalism and have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program.

Additional Information: The Aziz Jamaluddin ISNA Scholarship Program was established because of the strong belief in the need of Muslim students pursuing journalism. Mr. Jamaluddin noted the long history of biased media reporting and felt that there has been a lack of voices representative of Islam inside mainstream media. His continuing dedication and focus on helping the needy and promoting education and training of future leaders, serves as the inspiration for this scholarship. The primary goal is to have a generation of educated Muslims to speak out and communicate the true meaning of Islam in all types of media. This program is administered by ISNA and is funded by the Jamaluddin family.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications and information are available online at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, applicants must submit the following items: an essay responding to the prompt on the application form; two letters of recommendation; and the Expected Family Contribution Report (EFC) from the student's FAFSA profile. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
