I know it seems like every scholarship out there is for a graduating high school senior, but trust me, there are plenty of programs open to high school juniors, too. And no, you don’t need to know where you plan to attend college or which degree program you want to pursue; you just need to have the determination and drive to go after these opportunities. In fact, the earlier you start the scholarship search process the better, as it will give you more time to hone your skills and figure out which types of programs are best for you. You may find that you prefer the lottery-style scholarships that don’t require much time or effort, or you could be an amazing writer who can earn some serious cash through essay-based scholarships. Whichever type of program you prefer, there are plenty of opportunities waiting for you, including these 10 fall scholarships that are accepting applications right now.
1. Shout it Out Scholarship
Do you have something you want to get off your chest? Here’s your chance to “shout it out’” to the world, just be sure to keep it under 250 words! One winner will receive $1,500. Deadline: September 30.
2. No Essay Scholarship
If writing scholarship essays isn’t your strong suit, consider giving this ‘no essay’ scholarship the old college try! It only takes a few minutes to complete the online application for your chance to be the next $2,000 winner. Deadline: October 31.
3. Courage to Grow Scholarship
Is your grade point average a 2.0 or higher? If so, don’t miss this opportunity to win $500 for college. All it takes is a small essay (250 words or less) addressing the topic listed on the provider’s website and a few moments of your time. Deadline: October 31.
4. It’s All Up To You (Scholarship Slam)

A total of four $1,500 scholarships (one for each category: art, music, video or essay) are available through this reckless driving awareness campaign. 7. Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Giving back certainly has its rewards. If you volunteer at your school or in your community, be sure to check out this opportunity. You could win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. and a $1,000 or $5,000 award. Deadline: November 5.
8. University Language Services Photo Contest
Now that you are a high school junior, you should start thinking about college tours.

9. We the Students Scholarship Contest
The Bill of Rights Institute provides five scholarships, ranging in value from $500 to $4,000 each, through this annual essay contest. You must answer three questions about the U.S. Constitution and your role as a citizen. Deadline: December 6.
10. Good Deeds Scholarship
Don’t you wish you could be rewarded for your good intentions or future actions? You’re in luck! The Good Deeds scholarship is for anyone who has volunteered or is planning to volunteer. So, if you have a good heart or great idea that will help others, submit it and you could win $1,000. Deadline: December 31.
Whatever you do, don’t believe the hype that you need to wait until senior year to start applying. Next year, you’ll have plenty on your plate and won’t need the added pressure of finding enough scholarships to help finance your dream college.
