Unigo Scholarships

Q.

Is Unigo a legit scholarship provider?

A.

Yes, UNIGO and our Unigo-sponsored scholarships are legitimate and real. The site first started offering “theme” scholarships back in 2007, and those creative, monthly scholarship opportunities have grown through the years. ScholarshipExperts.com and Unigo were acquired by EDPlus Holdings, LLC in 2013 and 2014, respectively; in 2015, the websites/brands were combined into the website called “Unigo”. The site was later acquired by EducationDynamics LLC. Unigo became an independent company again in 2023.

The idea behind the Unigo scholarships is to help parents, students and educators in understanding that there are a lot of different types of scholarships out there — they are not all just for the straight A students or the athletic superstars. Students can actually win free money for college by being creative and original in their short-written responses.

Q.

How many times can I enter the Unigo-sponsored scholarship?

A.

The limit is one (1) application per person.

Q.

When are winners generally announced?

A.

Scholarship winners are contacted about 90 days after the deadline date — we contact winners by phone/text or email. Winners are also published online about 90 days after the deadline. You can find the winners of Unigo’s scholarships in our winners circle.

Resumption of Student Loan Payments FAQs

Q.

Are student loan payments resuming? What if I cannot make my student loan payments?

A.

Federal Loan Forbearance

Forbearance means a temporary stop from making payments. In 2020, pursuant to the CARES Act, all federal student loan payments were automatically stopped. Student loan borrowers, however, will be required to resume making payments on October 1, 2023. After this date, borrowers who are unable to make monthly payments due to financial difficulties, medical expenses, changes in employment, or other factors may be eligible for forbearance. Forbearance is not automatic and must be requested and granted. You can learn more about the types of forbearance that may be available to you and how to request it here.

Private Loan Forbearance

Borrowers with private loans are encouraged to contact their loan servicer directly to discuss any options that may exist.
