Does it seem like there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything? Even during the summer break, my schedule is overflowing with appointments and projects that need to be completed. Once classes resume, it will only get worse — especially for high school seniors. Some of you simply won’t have the time, or the energy, to sit down and write a 10-page essay or run around gathering documents for a lengthy scholarship application. Luckily, not all scholarship programs take hours of preparation. Some scholarships are out there that can be completed in 30 minutes or less. And, if you really have an aversion to writing essays or filling out detailed forms, there are some fun and creative contests that have prize funds that are no laughing matter. Here are just a few simple ways you can win college money without a huge investment of time.
1.Scotch® Make Amazing Contest
Do you ever fool around with decorative tape? Well, 3M Company is offering three $5,000 prizes for your creative artwork and crafts made out of Scotch® Brand tape. You can upload your creation online or submit it through Instagram. If you’re 16 years or older, you’re eligible to win. Deadline: August 3.
2. Wholesale Halloween Costumes Scholarship
This scholarship has nothing to do with Halloween. You simply have to submit a story on any topic via Twitter. Just be sure to keep within the 100 character limit if you want to win this $500 scholarship. Deadline: August 13.
3. Tweet for Success Scholarship
If you’re a current undergraduate student, you can also earn another $500 through this Twitter contest. In less than 140 characters, explain the pros and cons of e-books versus traditional textbooks for a chance to win. A total of four winners will be selected. Deadline: September 18.
4. “5 Simple Words” $10,000 Scholarship
Unigo is giving four students (14 years of age or older) $10,000 this fall. To win, you simply need to list five words that illustrate how you picture your life 10 years after college, and provide a short explanation (200 words or less) on why you chose those words. So basically, you’re getting paid $10,000 to write a paragraph. Deadline: September 30.
5. Seventeen Magazine ‘Pay for School’ Contest
This contest literally takes no effort on your part, and you don’t have to purchase anything to win. You can either apply by completing the free trial subscription form or the online entry form. Anyone 13 years of age or older can apply. Did I mention the prize? It’s $100,000 — that will make a dent in your college bills! Deadline: January 31, 2016
