Now that summer has ended, students are finally heading back to school. For high school seniors, the days of relaxing by the pool and sleeping in are definitely over. The next few months will be packed with visiting campuses, filling out college applications, and writing those dreaded college essays. Of course, another task that should already be on their plates is applying for scholarships, but they aren’t the only ones who should be looking for free money for college. High school freshmen, sophomores and juniors should begin looking for opportunities, too, as well as current college students. There are plenty of big money scholarships with deadlines in September, so everyone should be setting aside some time to apply for awards this month. Here are just a few of the scholarship opportunities waiting to be won.
1. United Realty Students Scholarship
One lucky winner will win a $5,000 scholarship from United Realty Partners. Current high school and college students, between the ages of 16 and 22, are eligible to apply. Deadline: September 1.
2. Beat the Boredom Photo Contest
It can be difficult staying awake while reading all those school books. Submit a photo showing how you ‘Beat the Boredom’ and you could win $500. Any U.S. student, 18 years or older, may enter. Deadline: September 9.
3. DirectTextbook.com Haiku Contest
Here’s a scholarship. It is worth five hundred bucks. Apply now to win! (Actually, the deadline is September 10, but that didn’t work with my haiku.)
