Describe the students at Auburn University.

claire

In regard to Auburn's student body, I feel like there are a lot of different so called "cliques" and that those cliques tend to hang out with each other and not interact. For example, greeks hang out with greeks, athletes with athletes, band members with band members, church goers with church goers, and so on. I think it is a shame that we do not interact with different groups to meet new people.

Abbey

I think Auburn is diverse enough to where no one would feel out of place. There are definitely bigger and more accepting groups than others, but I think there is a place for everyone here. Most students dress pretty casually to go to class, inless they have a presentation or something of the sort. Most Auburn students are from Alabama and the Atlanta area from what I can tell.

Kayla

Most students wear tshirts, jeans, or shorts to class. You rarely will find people who get all dressed up for class but you always have those certain individuals that care more about what they look like than why they are here. However, I do think Auburn has a very laid-back campus and most of the students are very friendly and well-mannered. Most of our student body comes from either Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, or Alabama. I know most of my friends are from one of those states. As far as financial backgrounds, there are different types of students from all different backgrounds. There are definitely those rich and more prominent individuals that have never worked a day in their life, but then there are also students who work two jobs just to pay their way through college and attend classes at the same time. Auburn is so diverse. However, it still has a few more dominant types of backgrounds.

Paige

Honestly, I feel that Auburn has a very strong religious group of students which I enjoy being religious myself. To be honest I feel that there is some racial tension sometimes, but this is something we all need to move on and get over because race NEVER defines anyone. I feel like most people wear t-shirts, running shorts, and flip flops to class. I feel that if you are considered EMO or a punk rock kind of kid, you might feel out of place. Like I have already said, I feel that many students have parents with very successful, financial backgrounds, which drives many of these students to be successful like their parents.

Suzanne

I love the student body. I love wearing pajamas to class and i hate it when people get really dressed up. People intereact well.

Aubrey

I do feel like a lot of Auburn students are very similar. I mainly hang out with students similar to me through my sorority, but I do meet people from other backgrounds in class and love talking to them! Most students are from Alabama or Georgia..otherwise mostly southern states. I think most students are conservative... I do think msot are politically aware. Some students talk about how much they earn..depending on who you talk to.

Torry

Students usually wear jeans and tshirts to class. I think most Auburn students come from Alabama or the South. I am politically aware and active, but I cannot speak for the entire student body.

Kelly

Auburns student body is very diverese.

Rhianna

There are a few very outspoken groups on campus, but they can be ignored if chosen. I don't think anyone would feel out of place at Auburn unless that want to attend a really huge school. Most students wear comfortable clothes to class- shorts or jeans and a t-shirt, for example. Many different types of students interact because they meet in class. Most Auburn students are from Alabama, but there are so many from across the US and around the world! Most are well-off financially.

Lindsay

I don't think any student would feel out of place at Auburn. There are many things to get involved in. Most Auburn students are generally from Alabama and the south but never make others that aren't feel unwelcome. I feel like most people are from a very stable financial background. I believe most students lean towards the conservative of politics but it is not discussed very often. Yes, students' futures are usually a big topic of conversation.

Sarah

i was suprised by how separated the school is racially. I was expecting it to be much more diverse. Even still, everyone has respect for each other. We never have racial problems but we just don't mingle as much i would like. The student body is prodominately right wing but not everyone is and you can definitely find groups and atmospheres other than that if you want. Everyone is very laid back. I think that is one reason why i love Auburn so much. Girls don't have to dress up to go to class. Most people where t-shirts and jeans or shorts everyday. Students do not talk about money. I don't feel like there is any sort of class tension. No one cares if you drive a range rover or a ford escort. We get along and have friends that have money and don't.

Carly

There have never been any issues of race or religion that I know of or have been involved in. Mostly students wear shorts or jeans and a tshirt to class. I live off campus and do not eat in the dining hall. Most student are from Alabama. If students are from out of state they are usually from a wealthy family because tuition is more expensive out of state.

Katie

I think Auburn has a very diverse student body. Anybody can come here and find an instant group of friends that share the same interests as them.

Katie

Most students wear t-shirts and comfortable clothes to class. Most auburn students are from Alabama or Georgia. Many of the students are pretty well off financially.

Anne

Study body is good, diverse, everything that's good. Rich, poor, moderate, there's all types and I think all types get along pretty well. An exception to that is blacks/whites...if you've read juicy campus its very obvious there's a problem, but otherwise I wouldn't have noticed a problem because of how little I see people of these races interact.

Blake

some are students are kind of closed-minded.

Katie

i believe that at any campus there is going to be clashes between races and people with different religions and background. i have never experienced a violent act though between students because of an issue like this. most students wear tshirts and jeans/ shorts to class, which i love. there is no need to dress up for class. most of the auburn students i know are from the south, but i feel and have experienced that more "northern" people are coming down and i love it. its always good to have a good mix of people and it continues to show that auburn is a diverse place and were not all southern rednecks like we have been stereotyped.

Kara

our student body is amazing, we all respect each other and love each other!

Katie

The majority of Auburn's student body is from the south and participate in greek life. Like many others, I tend to stick with the people of my same race with many of the same religious and political ideas. This is not always on purpose, but it often works out that way with the groups of friends i make.

Andy

auburn is extremely segregated, which is something i dont really like... someone who probably wouldnt like auburn was a homosexual male.. just because a lot of the guys here are very traditional and dont support that.. all kinds of financial backgrounds are prevalent.. most people in greek orgs are pretty well off
