I wish that I had known that the easiest way to meet new students as a commuter is by attending campus events, spending time in the social areas on campus, and getting involved in multiple activities.

Before going to college, I wish I had known that Aurora University looks for ways to take more of your money. I got a parking ticket for parking in the wrong parking lot, when the parking lot I was supposed to park in was full. The University told me one day before my key was due that there would be a fine if not returned, and this was over Chistmas Break! Also, my tuition is extremely expensive and the school had me under the impression that my scholarship would cover the majority of it, but it does not.

I wish I would have known how to balance finances better than what they are now.
Brittany
In all honesty, there is nothing that I didn't know before attending Aurora University that I wish I would have known. I knew everything that I needed to know prior to attending Aurora University. The staff are excellent in welcoming incoming students and informing them of everything that they need to know in order to develop successful academic careers at Aurora University.
Sarah
There is not much that I did not know about Aurora before attending. I did a visit and within one visit all of my questions were answered. If I had to choose something it would have been knowing the difference between my current major and my previous major, but that had nothing to do with the school itself. Aurora actually helped me get onto the right path with my current major.

Before coming to Aurora Univeristy I wish i would have known how low social life is here. I wish the university offered more events, concerts, and other activities for students to socialize and get to meet new people. The first few weeks of the semester were okay but as the year progressed the activities diminished.

I wish I would have learned how to write papers better. There is layouts in microsoft word that make it easier. Also, I wish I would have learned to study in different ways. I moved in on campus and screwed up because I felt like being more social. I wish I would have been more outgoing and willing to show people the real me from the start instead of fearing judgement by my peers. College is a new beginning.

Something I wish I would have known before I atteneded AU would me how to use my time wisely.
Molly
I wish I would have known that it was better to dorm at a small school. With it being such a small school, everyone gets so close. If you are a commuter you miss out on a lot of good relationships.
Jeri
I wish I had known how small the school really was. It is very small.
Alyssa
The financial aid and advising offices are not exactly fantastic, but I'm not sure if any school has some that are. However, this is a great school that has teachers who really care about their subject material. You will walk away learning something and that is much more than I can say about my high school experience.
Stacey
I wish they would have told me a little bit more about the health science major and careers that i might possibly obtain by having this career. They do not tell you everything, you really need to ask alot of questions before you come here. I like the teachers, but make sure you can handle making your own schedule before you decide on this school.

I wish that I had know that the Elementary Education program was changing because it is making it more difficult for me to graduate and get clear answers to my questions. I also wish I had known that they don’t offer as many different times and days to take specific classes as there are limited options for classes for me.
Amy
Before I arrived at Aurora University, I do wish that I had known that although all of the professors expect their students to strive for excellence, there are dozens of academic assistance services here on campus! They have free tutoring, paper-writing help, and one-on-one office hours with the teachers to help students achieve their full potential. These kinds of resources can be serious life savers.
Samantha
I wish I had known about the Business program, May term, and scholarships available for transfer students, as well as four year plans for students.
Samantha
I wish I knew how college really is. How hard it can be and the drastic change in the acedemic demand. It is harder in college with writing and the homework we have to do than in High school. Also my professors say that the learning ways my high school teachers taught me won't be used in college.
Breanna
I wish I would have known more about what it would be like to live on campus. After living in the dorms for a semester I realized that it may not be the best situation for me. I also I wished I would have known more about the resources available on campus. There are alot of resources available to me however I am unsure about how to use many of them. I also wished I would have known about the College of Education requirements needed in order to take my methods courses from the beginning.

I wish I had known about the differences between the leadership and the clinical track in social work. As I look forward to graduating from this program in April 2011, I only recently found out that there will be an additional 1500 hours I need to acquire before I can sit for my LCSW exam. Typically, social work graduates need 3000 hours of supervised clinical work before they can take the exam for their LCSW. This additional amount of time may have changed my decision to pursue the leadership track rather than the more traditional clinical track.

I wish I would have known my roommates, knew we had three people in a double and what the school was like on a day to day basics. I also thought that the price would be lower but it was not when I got my e-bill it was a surprise to me and my parents on how much it was. Not knowingthat we did not have a facility to practice at that we could call our own for track. We use the cities facility and we have to drive ourselves. I thought those where important to me.

Aurora University provides an excellent academic environment. I commute to school everyday, and I wish I had known to choose to live on campus. Commuting is a great way to save money, but it lacks in the "college experience." It has been much harder for me to make any friends at AU because I'm not here as much, and when I am it's only to go to class.
