For the most part, these stereotypes are not accurate. Babson is a very diverse campus with students coming from all over the country and globe. Since Babson is so diverse, there is not a typical Babson student on campus. Every student at Babson is unique and brings a different culture to the campus.
Babson is a highly competitive school, so naturally we have a pretty heavy work-load. However, Babson balances the high workload by only having classes Monday-Thursday. This allows students to go out on the weekend, because they have an extra day to do classwork. Typically, Thursday and Saturday nights at Babson, students go out to either the pub on campus or socialize at a frat or suite.

Somewhat. We have a lot of Entrepreneurship focus, but we also have many liberal arts requirements, and also most people are actually in the finance field.

As much as I will deny the stereotype, it exists for a reason but there are plenty of people to counteract it.
Jess
We are pushy, we know what we want and we do what we have to to get it.
There are a lot of people with money on this campus, but there are also a lot without.
We're at one of the best business schools in the country, and we are all aware that each of us are almost guaranteed a 6-figure salary upon graduation, so yes we are cocky, but for good reason.
Walter
A lot of people here are crazy rich. But some aren't, and some are actually here on complete/almost complete financial aid (like me). 2 is true. As for 3, if you sit in your dorm, do nothing, and expect it to be like UAlbany or Ohio State, then you're in for a severe let down. But if you try and make stuff happen, you'll end up having a great time.

After attending prep-school for my four years of high school I might be slightly biased but I was shocked when people were claiming that Babson is preppy. Babson has a very diverse student body and maybe a few kids will occasionally "pop their collar" but it looks more like a Massachusetts suburb than Greenwich or Darien.
Babson students have a lot more pride in their school than they tend to let on. The recent formation of "Beaver Nation" has helped to raise school spirit a lot, and the turnouts at some of the basketball, hockey, soccer and lacrosse games has been pretty impressive.
Ryan
definitely...these kids are out for money and money only...friends are a bonus...certainly an option...and a lot of babson students are rich spoiled kids whose parents can pay the big bucks for them to go here...definitely a lot of arrogant pricks at this school
Jerry
-yes, but not EVERYONE is snobby..(a handful)
Samantha
Some of the stereotypes are accurate, like the work load can be very difficult, and for the most part, everyone is fairly wealthy, but both have their exceptions.
Madison
There are a lot of wealthy and pretentious students, but there are also a lot of students who are neither or just one. I think it would be similar in most schools. The social life aspect of Babson is what you make of it. I was from the area so I usually spent my weekends with off campus friends. There isn't much to do on weekends, so students do drink a lot. However, if you have a good group of friends there is no reason you wouldn't have a good time.

Well, rumors don't go around without having some basis. First of all, there are some students at Babson who have way too much money for their own good. Most of us though, are like other college students and are flat broke. I know people who are happy simply to have five dollars in our pocket. When we do have money, it is mostly because we earned it ourselves through the various methods I am just beginning to learn. But Babson students are not rich and the students here help eacother out and pool resources as much as possible. I don't know anything about Bentley.
The type of students here vary. You have quiet ones, loud ones, weird ones, just like high school. Yet, schools do each have their own ambience. The students here are preoccupied with professionalism and are not known to act too radical. Yet to be a successful businessman, a person has to have a high charisma. Many of the students get along with others really easily and you can tend to forget they are planning to be CEO of a huge company someday. About thinking only of money at the expense of the world, well, we are business students, we have to think of money. At the expense of the world, I think not though. A lot of people realize the effect many corporations have on people and nature and don't agree with it. There are lots of ways to make money without hurting the world. I doubt many of the students are looking to destroy the world....because then no money can be made.
At Babson, the work is hard. No doubt about that but it is not impossible. If Babson accepts you, you can definitely do the work and with Fridays off, you'll find that sometimes, you have too much free time on your hands.
About the male to female ratio, its true for now. It was really bad a couple years ago but it is gradually going up. Right now it is 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} to 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}. But if you are looking for hot girls, Babson is not the place for you. If you are looking for potentially rich wives, that may be another story.
John
While these stereotypes exist here more so than at larger non-pure business schools and more affordable schools, people are obviously mixed. Some people portray some but not all of these characteristics while others don't portray and at all. I would say this stereotype is accurate to a degree of about 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the students here. The rest simply don't portray these distinct characteristics while others are entirely original and unique.
Nicole
These stereotypes are very accurate. From being involved the past 4 years, I can attest to Babson's over active lifestyle that many students lead. Everyone learns how to balance work and extra curricular activities. Its about time management.
Rafael
Not all of them. International kids do definately stick together and there are very wealthy people here but for the most part everyone is modest so you would never know what their family income is. People are actually always on their phones but its usually because they want something to do while they walk to class and not because they are symbollically telling people to go away. As for gay people, as a gay person myself I must admit there are few openly gay people but a ton of closested people. As for all we care about is money, that is half true. We work hard and try to beafen up our resumes as much as we can so we can get good jobs but we don't talk about business or money outside of class.
KJ
No...most people do not graduate with an entrepreneurial concentrations and Babson is small but in a good way. I love knowing everyone when i go to a party and knowing where all the parties are every night. Babson is small but it gives each student the chance to take charge and do everything they wanted to get involved with in college. Also about 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of people go home on the weekend but for the most part people like to stay on campus where the parties are and where they don't need a DD.
Torry
very much so for the majority of the population
Taylor
The ones that are accurate are the not having school spirit and not supporting sports teams.
Marissa
There is plenty of campus life, clubs, events, and parties. It's definately not all business-- it's 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} business and liberal arts. There are plenty of sports and games-- we are especially big on rugby, lacrosse, and basketball. And the international students are the most interesting people you'll ever meet in your life!! Just remember their culture is a little different from yours.
It is true that I have never seen so many diverse people in one place... and I'm from Miami (a lot of diversity..) It's amazing to hear so many different languages from English, Spanish, French, German, Greek, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, Japanese, ect. all around campus. Thanks to Babson, I can go to Switzerland, Cyprus, Thailand, Jordan, Ireland, Argentina, Egypt, China, Brazil, and SOOOOO many more and I have a friend there.
It IS an excellent business school. You'll learn more than you have in your life-- and real things that are practical for the real world. And 99.8{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of graduating seniors get a job within 6 months of graduating.
