What should every freshman at Brookhaven College know before they start?

My advise that I would have given to my former self, would be to completely know which classes to take for the degree I'm pursuing, instead of taking using elective credits early on. Also to be sure to use as much time as possible to study and look over notes and limit the television, internet surfing, and "slacking" to a minimum.

The advises I would give myself if I could go back to my high school years are, first and for most is in the subject of selecting the colleges to apply to, know the school that is the best choice for your classmates are not necessarily the best selection for you so make a good consideration of what your interests and comforts lay up on the size of the school and the driving distance from home. Secondly, all the preparation for being a good candidate to a college is not just having the best grade point average and SAT scores but also having the set of mind for a college student. The study habits and formats are unlike of a high school setting, make time to visit and find college students to speak to regarding their experiences. Finally carefully to consider the school of choice available options for tuition assistance; the goal is to receive good education not become overwhelmed with student loans by the time you graduate. There are numerous available scholarships to apply to, make time to fill out and submit them before deadlines approach. I beleive these advices would have changed my first year of college imensely.
