It's a nice school with an okay social life. The best part about it is that tutoring and office hours are always available. I got a lot of help from professors, which helped me get good grades. The only downside would be that there are very limited research opportunities going on.

Its a pretty great school to ease into college life overall the professors really do care about you and I love that Brookhaven has club fairs, sales, and panels to inform and get students together on things. As well as they have great tuition prices.

In my opinion Brookhaven is a good school. It is a community college so most of the classrooms are not always full! which is awesome because the less people in the classroom the more you learn and the more you get to interact with your classmates and professors.

Brookhaven College has a very safe and calm environment with a beautiful scenery. The school has multiple areas for students to study, relax, or hang out with their peers. Personally, my favorite area is their cherished art gallery, where many students’ gorgeous artwork is showcased inside of a quaint and spacious room. However, the art gallery is not the only place art is displayed. Brookhaven College values are so much, student visual artworks can be found all over campus in different buildings! Not only is Brookhaven College considerate of those interested in visual arts, but performance arts too! The school teaches multiple music courses and even offers instrumental lessons. In fact, the school offers special rooms where students can practice their craft. Although I do not play any instruments, I enjoy spending time in the music hall because I am able to be moved by the sound of students beautifly playing instruments. Then again, I also enjoy being near the theater practicum because I can watch theater participants act, which is very entertaining. Although the school lacks in the sports and sorority department, there is still a lot of school spirit. In fact, students often create their own clubs. For example, students had formed an anime club (as a person who has attended a few anime club meetings, I can say that it is a lot of fun and is a great way to meet new peers)! That being said, I am proud to attend a college that gives students the freedom to share their passions as a form of school spirit. The school faculty also organizes events that bring awareness to certain subjects or to simply make students feel at ease. For example, events range from celebrating holidays (including cultural ones like Cinco de Mayo), to enforcing important subjects like voting and safe sex. Regardless of the message behind Brookhaven’s events, I always have a fun time. My favorite memory from one of the school’s events is when its courtyard was decorated with bouncy houses, bubbles, board games, and a popcorn and cotton candy booth. My peers and I were so happy! It was like we were little kids again! It was a great way to give us a break from our hard work. Although students have a lot of fun on campus, the school still enforces good education. When it comes to faculty, professors are well-educated and are always willing to share their knowledge. Although many of them have specific office hours, they deeply care for their students and are willing to compromise. However, professors are not the only faculty that care for the students; Brookhaven College has an active on-campus police department as well. The police department gets along well with students, and are always on the lookout for danger. This makes me feel very safe and secure whenever I am on campus. Overall, Brookhaven college is a very good community college. It is affordable, pretty, considerate, energetic yet soothing, and encouraging!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back and have a chat with myself as a senior, I'd probably have a lot to say. One thing for sure would be to keep my focus. There is a lot of time to have fun, but you need to balance it with school work, because you don't have anyone on your back telling you what to do and when to do it. College is a growing experience and its a time where you need to be responsible for yourself. Another tip I would give myself would be to keep my morals. There are so many new people and experiences available that it is easy to fall into a crowd that isn't necesarily the best one to be a part of. It is very easy to lose yourself and become someone you think is the right person, because that is what you are surrounded by. Eventually you come to realize that that person isn't you and somethings need to change to get back on the right path. College is the time in your life where you really find out who you are as a person with ups and downs along the way.

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

In order to go to school this time around, I had to move from Ohio to Texas. Before I started school, I wish I would have truly understood how difficult this move was going to be. The past six months has been both amazing and emotionally draining at the same time. I moved to Texas the week before school started. I wish I had given myself more time to get better acclimated with the area before the first day of school. Even though this move has been hard, I am grateful I am here.

The unique qualities about Brookhaven College which I consider when comparing schools to attend were numerous; the school has an immense educational resources and variety of programs for students to pursue. What made my decision easy was Brookhaven has a nationally recognized two-year nursing program, besides its new home of a $35,000,000 new health sciences facility to go along with its excellent faculty. The location of the school was addition to my list, it was 15-minutes of driving from where I lived and I love the diverse student body which makes up its population.

  12. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Honestly I don't brag about it. I originally went to Tarleton State in 08-09, but then came home due to financial reasons and to bring my gpa up to where it needed to be. The transition was rough, and I haven't exactly been a fan of it. In reality though it was probably one of the best decisions I've made. I got my head on straight again, my focus was back to where it needed to be, and most importantly I was able to get close to my family again.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is the attitude of most of the students. Most seem like they don't want to be there or they are being forced to be there by parents or other pressures. It makes for a lot of immature class discussions.
